I'm not sure -- okay I AM sure I didn't understand part of that.

They read an obscene (in more ways than one) amount of stories. They cannot personally respond to all of them. If you submitted your story to an editor of a book or mag, there is a real chance you would get even less of a clue as to why it was rejected -- and sometimes even when they DO tell you, you end up shaking your head.

As to volunteer editors, you'd find someone who was compatible, and you can accept or reject any suggestion. Again, this is not for pay, and it's not like the reason it was rejected was a lack of 40DDs. (At least I don't think so.)

In your position, I'd do another pass on the story, resubmit it, and add a note explaining that you are not sure why it was rejected last time, have re-edited, and if it still does not meet the requirements, could they tell you why so you'd be able to comply?

I actually did this myself. I fixed what I thought was the problem, and found out it was really about a scene which I could not remove -- it was too intrinsic to the story. I lived, and whined relatively little. There ARE other sites.

My first story was rejected also, and I was devastated, it turned out that I didn't use my quotation marks correctly...I corrected my errors, and resubmitted it, and it was accepted.

The reasons for rejection can be weird and wonderful so dont let it get you down.

I got a vampire story rejected because I didn't make it clear that the victim did not die!! Another was rejected because I did not make it clear the girl was over 18.

I was pissed at the time but now dont care, it just narks me when you read other stories where worse happens than yours was rejected for.

Just someone who is me when I am not me. There is a lot of them. That version picks fights. We don't let him out.

Don't care about that anyway. This would have me scratching my bald head if I could reach it. I took out a part about a picture of a husband and I described " with 16 year old daughter", thought that was it.

Nope, rejected. I even ran spellcheck, it found a dozen words spelled right and one spelled wrong, that wasn't it, rejected.

So I rewrote, moved paragraphs around, resubmitted. Then it hit me. There is a reference to a product complete with description. But no brand name. But someone clever with search could come up with the poduct, a subliminal CD?

Maybe that is it? If so I break my record of 3 rejections on one story.

magmaman, some of the stories with errors that you mentioned were probably submitted before the site became so popular. At that time the site managers read every story submitted, some (Including my first) were posted even with multiple errors if the managers liked the story enough.
