I am trying to turn a phrase... but I need it in Greek

It is actually just the word 'the' that I need translated

something like "Lizzy the Painter"

I am trying to figure out how I would put that in Greek

In my simple Basic Greek in 30 Minutes a Day, I couldn't find an exact word for that particular article. It may not exist in Greek. What you may be looking for is something that would be closer to "Painter Lizzie."

eliza :Lizzy the Painter:
λιζα η ζωγραφος

can u tell me the whole sentence?
anyway if u need anythink else tell me

Which Greek are we talking about?

Modern Greek? Byzantine Greek? Hellenistic/Alexandrian Greek? Homeric?

I can only speak from the historical end so I'm not sure I could help out with the modern end of things. I do know the vocabulary has changed significantly though.

Artist painter? House Painter? A painter for tieing up boats? or ?:)

Artist painter and house painter would both be the same word, tekne. It means craftsman or something close to that. The Greeks didn't make any difference between the fine and the practical arts. And I don't think we should either but we do.

I would guess "painter" is a masculine, singular, nominative noun.

That would make "the painter" ῾ο <your word here>ς (I don't know "painter" in Greek)

Unless it's determined by Lizzie being a female, making it a feminine, singular, nominative noun: ῾οι <your word>ι.

Or in roman characters: ho <word>s or hoi <word>i.

I'm not 100% sure of this, but from what lirrle i remember, it should be accurate.
