God Save Me From Junk E-mail HERE!

Maybe I'm the only person in the world who dislikes getting forwarded e-mail from people. You know the type I'm talking about: The "feel good" vignettes that you're supposed to send to 10 friends, the male bashing stuff, the jokes that run about five pages long, the "I thought this was really interesting/funny/disgusting and I HAD to share it with you (and everyone else in my address book) junk...the list goes on and on.

Now, I log on to the BB, after many many 500 errors (no offense, Laurel!) and I discover to my HORROR that this stuff has followed me here! To a place where I thought I was safe! To a place where I come to find Original and Frank Discussion.

<sobs piteously> What is the world coming to? Junk mail is posing here as topic threads! <wails> Am I alone in my despair?

I too dislike getting the FW: type of mail. Especially in light of the new virus/worm scourge ravaging the net now! I usually just delete the crap! Luckily I am not too popular and am not in a whole lot of address books...I sympathize with you whisper.

I agree with you 100% about that kind of crap, Whisper. I won't open anything that says FWD or anything that has an attachment, or anything that's larger than 3-4k (unless it's from someone I know from experience writes long emails), cause I know what's coming. I'd keep going but talking about it is just as frustrating as reading it.

OH, almost forgot - I don't like seeing it here either. It's like a Cliff's Notes version of real thought.

Ummm....errrr....ahhhhh....geez...I guess I am guilty on two counts. Sorry if I offended. As for the Men's Room, that just had to be shared. I don't care where the hell it came from. The few who have taken the time to read it, obviously were very amused by it, and for that I am glad. I hope others will read it too, because it is damn funny! If I can share something that will make someone laugh so hard their stomach hurts, then I am all for it. Sorry Whisper, I shall try hard to curtail any forth coming mails that are classified as junk. Kat, baby, sorry I came down so hard. I don't mind seeing the occasional prize piece of junk here, especially if it starts a good discussion. It's just that in just one day I saw something like three or four here and I just had to say something before the BB became this giant depository of forwarded email.

BTW, how are Desiree and her guy? (His name escapes me...Nanook? Semi? Something unusual...)

Maybe I'm the only one who doesn't like this type of stuff. But for me, it's sort of like a nasty joke when I open a thread hoping for something interesting, and only get a mildly amusing piece of mail that I've already glanced at and deleted from my inbox.

Maybe Lasher, Thump, Wizzie and I are the minority here, but I thought it was worth bringing up again.

I just delete forwards too... but not replys cause that is how I answer most emails... usually cant remember what I wrote originally so it helps me.

Hey, "Ignore it if you don't like it" is one of the commandments of the bulletin board. I abide by that everyday. So also is, "Everyone is entitled to state their own opinion." I do that too. Heh heh. That's what this place is for!

I know exactly what you mean. I get about 10 junk emails a day and I don't even know how they got my email. It drives me nuts. I even unsuscribe to them but they still keep coming. Your not alone when it comes to this pet peeve so now I just send it back without opening it maybe they will get the hint lol

I have two online buddies I accept forwards from for two reasons, one they are always entertaining, they don't pass on crap, and two they delete the 400kb list of morons who've forwarded this particular piece. Everyone else, well if they send me forwards, I send them back a polite request to knock it off. If they don't, then I block sender.

What I hate more than crap fwds though, is when someone gets a fwd and saves everyone's email listed in that fwd and then proceeds to mail crap. To me. Bad enough to get junk from people you know, but crap from people you don't??? without even being asked??? I get violent. My puter trembles in fear when this happens.
