God in his infinite wisdom...

and a few other colors and shades too.

No, he made them black. The lack of sunlight in the north turned some white, yellow, red or brown.

And he made green alligators and long necked geese.

All just a great accident or a miraculous endeavor.

Humans developed on open savannas in East Africa. As they moved north they became lighter skinned. Gorillas live at altitude where perhaps the UV rays are stronger and their is not as much forest cover. Chimps are pure tropical forest dwellers. The tree canopy may shade them enough that they don't need dark skin.

Not a learned opinion but there is some merit in the argument.

Orangutans don't appear to be overly dark skinned and they live in deep jungles.

Read an article which suggested humans shared a common ancestor with orangutans not chimps. Similar dental pattern, shoulder blades and the fact orangutans grow beards. It was suggested that it showed how we had deviated genetically away from orangutans to one that seemed closer to chimpanzees.

Supposed to be. But this article pointed out that all genomes change over the millennia and ours could have mutated to resemble the chimps not our true closest cousin. teeth, shoulder blades and moustaches.
