The Uninteruptable Power Supply that is.
A while back my father happened to find a U.P.S. for me in a yard sale. Turned out to be a monster designed more for a server than for a home computer bt what the hell, the price was right. ($10.00)
Well I hooked that puppy up into my system, did some tweaking, and nothing happened. We haven't even dropped power in over a month. About twenty minutes ago the power went out! Poof, the whole neighborhood is black. I can hear someone yelling and cussing from down the building. (Dran, do you live in Southern Florida?
) Well, when I realized what was going on I turned to my computer with a sick feeling in my belly, (Remembering the last time it crashed due to a power out.) and Happy Days are here again. It's still up and running!
I took my time, logged out of everything I was doing, then powered down in the approved way. (This took several minutes due to me being a true multi-tasker who seems to enjoy running my computer at max.) Out of curiosity I glanced at the power level indicator on the U.P.S. It hadn't even twitched from full charge. I could have just kept right on running.
Well power's back up, and I'm feeling much relieved knowing my computer is protected.
