GM closing 5 plants

Boom.

Our trucks are #1, our SUV's are competitive but not dominant.....but our cars?

Damn...it's just ugly out there for M'arican brands.

The Japanese sedans/sports cars, Korean economy commuter cars and German luxury cars fuckin' dominate in the car world.

I mean, why buy a Corvette or Dawjuh Demon when you can get a GTR???

Ever drive a Toyota Tundra?
Ours aren't number one, they are just cheapest.

Wasn't the whole point of renaming NAFTA to USMCA to save the auto industry

No, it was because Trump mistakenly thought the US got a raw deal so he tried for a better one and fucked himself.

The Mexicans are laughing at you now...and sending refugees...yup...Trump is a hero:D:D:D

"We were told that we simply must bail out General Motors during the financial crisis because if we failed to, that would lead to a bloodbath of job losses and cascading business failures. But the job losses were always going to come: Paying people to build things that consumers don't really want isn't a sustainable business model. That's a reality you cannot bail your way out of." —Kevin Williamson

How about the government fully funding social security for a start. If they manage that then we can move on to government fully funding government pensions and then let's worry about the private sector.

*cough, cough - Industrial Military Complex plus the congressional retirement package.

All the talk about socialism fails to mention all the "foreign gov aid" goes to countries that buy an awfully lot of in military arms. Wonder why? That's cause we can't buy the number of ammunition and heavy arms to keep the companies afloat so lets give money to other counties to buy our arms. State welfare? Sounds like it, but then again it is only my gut that feels that way, maybe he did, maybe he didn't.

Plus - Russian sanctions!! If there is an argument as to why, the sanctions!! That and the pee tape (gawd I hoe there is a pee tape)

It would be a damn shame if after all this shit that there isn't one.

Not that I absolutely want to see it...I just wanna know that it's there and ready to be internetted forever. :D

Actually he's threatening to punish GM by the IRS keeping $7,000 more of your money if you buy an electric car.

My first observation is that it seems that even bribery wasn't sufficient to make those vehicles profitable.

Secondly I have a problem with the government using the tax code as a means of manipulating a market, any market. It didn't work out too well with the solar panels either.

Lastly a business that builds a model around bribery is not a business with long term prospects.

So you are opposed to nuclear power, opposed to the keystone pipeline, think gasoline and diesel fuel should cost a lot more at the pump, think air fares should cost a lot more...
Interesting.
