They used to say that men don’t makes passes at girls who wear glasses - really?

I have no idea where this monstrous trope came from. Glasses add poise, mystery, gravitas and une certaine je ne sais quoi. However, that's in the eye of the beholder. There must be 100s of millions of men who have no clue what I'm talking about - a fortunate 'statistic' since, by definition,they're not competitors. (and while we're on the subject I'm campaigning to put the 'h' back in whacky and to resurrect the personal pronoun).
