Saw all three the past week. All very enjoyable; however the aftermath of the rape scene in GWTDT left me weeping.

Has anyone else seen any of these?

Just saw GWDT...it was really good. I liked the English version better than the Swedish version.

I just finished the book and am about 3/4 through the second one. I thought it was very well done, I thought Danial Craig was pretty good and Lisbeth Salander(can't think of the girls name who played her).

I didn't appreciate finding out why she was institutionalized in movie one when at the 300 page point of book two I still don't know.

It's not exactly hidden in the first book, he just doesn't explain a whole lot until the second and third. I mean obviously something of that nature had happened.

I won't be seeing the other two. I liked the first Sherlock Holmes a lot more; it was more coherent and the female lead was way more interesting. The gypsy woman was a total place holder. But the Moriarty-Sherlock exchanges were pretty good.

I haven't seen any yet, but I'd rather see the original Swedish version of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which is supposedly better than the American re-make. You just have to have the ability to read subtitles, which most people don't want to be bothered doing.

And I don't have any desire to see another Sherlock Holmes movie were he and Watson are made into action heroes, instead of the cerebral crime-solving sleuths they're supposed to be.

Just my two cents ... :)

I'll be seeing Tatoo as soon as this influenza is over. Sherlock was entertaining in a trivial way (I've been an avid Holmes fan since high school).
Mission: Impossible was fairly amazing in that it gave me vertigo...and I've been climbing rock and ice for decades.

That's gotta be one of the most over-used and dumbest sentiments regarding film. Most people don't care about subtitles. They care about the movie. Foreign films didn't used to get seen a lot because they don't have the distribution that domestic films do. Nowadays Netflix and Pirate Bay have changed things and foreign films are easier to find. The Swedish Dragon Tattoo trilogy are some of the most popular films on Netflix subtitles and all.

After not going to a movie for months, I saw Sherlock and Mission in a span of three days. Enjoyed both of them immensely. I'll make time for the Dragon Tattoo as well because of the reviews.
I really want to see TinTin. I started reading those books in the 4th grade, and they were old then. Watching the trailers, it's like four or so of the best books have been made into one movie.

Why would anyone watch a Swedish film?

Its like watching Chelsea Clinton undress.

I watched the Swedish original on Netflix and then immediately watched The Girl Who Played with Fire. I waited a couple of days to watch the third one because I enjoyed the first two so much I didn't want them to end.

The Swedish actress who plays the main character is great, she really brings the films together, and so does the guy who plays the journalist.

I don't watch a lot of movies, they bore me generally. I've never watched any of the Mission Impossible movies nor will I. I haven't watched either Sherlock Homes, but I may at some point, if bored enough.

The rape of Noomi Rapace was the only reason to watch the original. Didn't see the new one.

I think there's a pretty good rape scene in the second one, too, but I watched one right after the other so they kinda blended together.

I watched it last week after hearing a panel on NPR discussing whether the books were crime thrillers or misogynistic sensationalism... I think the panel missed the point entirely.

Who doesn't love to watch a 90-lb punk girl set up her own rape and then reap endless revenge for it. One of my fave genres :D

Also, excellent lezthbo scene in #2, right in the beginning, though not violent at all.

I'll probably just wait for it to stream on nflix & FF to the relevant scene...

Yeah, the whole Swedish trilogy is on netflix streaming now.

They were like cotton candy to me, fluffy, guilty pleasure.

I'd be lying if I claimed not to have streamed the important minute of the first one many times with my dick out.

i was apprehensive about going to see the girl with the dragon tattoo, because i loved the books and the swedish films. the american version did not disappoint. what did disappoint was the cackle of women sitting not far behind me cheering throughout the movie. book clubs.

mission impossible was fun. vertigo, yes.

the first sherlock holmes was a so-so for me, so i'll wait on that one.

Saw 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' last night and loved it. Fucking loved it.

Didn't read the book(s), didn't watch the Swedish version but I loved David Fincher's take on such an amazing story.

Daniel Craig was great but that little freaky gal who portrayed Lisbeth was extraordinary! Rooney Mara is her name... Google and be amazed.

Turns out, I'll be rooting for her Grandfather's NFL team - the New York Giants - tomorrow.

Sadly, I'll be rooting against her other Grandfather's NFL team - the Pittsburgh Steelers versus Tebow and the Broncos. Stillers have it down pat but I gotta go with Tebow one more time this season.

Gosh, I'm so glad I didn't know she was a great/granddaughter of NFL Royalty before watching that film.

ETA: Her grandfathers actually created such teams, erm, they're not just fans or anything, heh

Which rape scene? I read the book yesterday and there were...several. It was excellent - one of the best novels I've read in a while - but it was very, very rough.

You read the book yesterday?

The film is over 2.5 hours so I imagine the book at least 400 pages.
