"Only a little," Kell nuzzled against her cheek. "But I can get hundreds of people to sign a paper saying you're wonderful if you need proof."

“Khelt.” Kate warned as her husband nuzzled against her cheek, teasing her as he knew that she wouldn’t take compliments gracefully.

He simply stole a kiss and kept walking, glancing back once with a smile. They soon came upon a thicket with a wide path cleared out of it, and just within sight was a little hunting camp with a few canopied areas and a small cabin. It looked to have been kept in good shape, but hadn't been used for its real purpose in a long while. Kell produced a key from his belt and unlocked the door, revealing a cozy, dark interior that looked to have been recently cleaned. Kell glanced around, finding a bundle of candles and matches were lying on a small table along with a stack of blankets and sheets, and cords of wood had been stacked outside the door. "Seems they really intended for our people to stay here," Kell murmured.

"Well, we can put it to good use today." Kate said with a grin towards Kell as she moved to pick up the sheets and the towels to make the bed.

Kell went to gather a cord of wood, setting a fire in the tiny bedroom hearth to warm the room. He lingered a while, taking his time knowing they had plenty of it. Unless something truly dire came up, Qira wouldn't bother them, nor would he allow anyone else to.

Once it grew warm inside, Kell laid aside his cloak and jacket and turned to look to Kate with a serene smile.

By the time Kell had slipped out of his coat and cloak, Kate was sprawled across the bed with her eyes closed. She relaxed on the freshly made bed, enjoying the moment of no responsibility, even if it was a very brief moment.

Kell watched Kate for a long moment, hesitant to intrude on her moment of freedom. So instead he remained by the fire, quietly watching over his wife for a long moment. It was comforting to see her relaxed. She took more onto her shoulders than she needed to even on the best days.

“Why are you always staring at me?” Kate asked, not even opening her eyes but knowing that Kell was staring at her as always.

"I spend just as much time watching out around you," Kell reminded, taking a couple steps closer to the bed. "I'm not sure why. Maybe I'm trying to figure you out."

“Good luck with that. No ones been able to figure me out yet.” Kate said as her husband made slow steps towards the bed.

"Except your father, if even he has." Kell knelt at the bedside, laying his head on his arms as he watched her. Soon, though, his eyes closed with a long sigh, content to sit there a while.

"Especially not him." Kate said with a slight smile on her face, enjoying the argument for the sake of arguing.

"Stubborn woman," Kell murmured at seeing the telltale smile on her face. "I swear, one day you'll tell me it's night at noon, just to start an argument."

“I enjoy arguing with you. You make our makeups so much sweeter when you’re angry.” Kate said, her grin growing a little bigger at that.

"I have never been angry with you. Only mildly frustrated," Kell reminded. Kate had never directly witnessed him losing his temper, only heard it once from afar during their time in Wick. Even with her, his ability to remain composed seemed unchallenged thus far.

“Is that a challenge?” Kate asked softly, her green eyes opening to look at him. “Is my mission to make the great Khelt Aleister lose his temper?”

"I'd prefer you didn't," he smiled. "I don't like being angry. It makes me sloppy, less logical. And besides, Qira would kill me if I lost my temper at you."

“I highly doubt that, love.” Kate said, rolling her eyes at the idea that Qira would kill her husband if he lost his temper at her.

"Oh, he will. He'd do a lot worse for you too." Kell closed his eyes, comfortable where he was. "I'm not quite sure what lengths he'd go to for me, but it's clear you're his favorite."

“Good. He should like me more.” Kate said, kissing her husband before she relaxed once again on the bed. “I miss my room at Inverness and the gloomy days of rain that happen this time of year.”

"I miss it too... especially my tower," Kell murmured, his golden eyes opening slightly as he daydreamed of their time in Inverness. "Sitting in the windowsill, reading and listening to the rain... sometimes Sam would come up and we'd talk for hours about his training. He was always trying to figure out how to best me. He felt like if he could beat me, he could beat anyone."

"He will beat you some day." Kate said simply, believing that her brother were truly the best of them all. "I've never met anyone more dedicated to their craft and his role than Samuel."

Kate leaned in and kissed her wolf deeply, cupping his cheek as she stared into his half opened golden eyes. "I intent to get the best of you some day as well. Perhaps on a morning when you are well and truly sated after an evening in bed."

"If you truly get the best of me, I'll retire and let Qira take over." Kell smiled lazily at her. "And then you can argue with him for fun. It's like talking to a wall, he just doesn't talk back."

"Where's the fun in that?" Kate asked, needing to know where the fun in arguing with a stone wall of a man that Qira was.
