what sort of error message does it give you? not knowing that, i could be taking potshots in the dark lol.

I have put up a new av since the format change without a problem, so its probably not that, but without further information, i cant help much

I went through all the skins...it still looks the same, no upload option...I feel lost

Maybe they changed the number of posts to get an AV or had to disable the feature temporarily while working to get everything back in order. Has anyone emailed or PM'd Manu?

There's no error messege...the option to upload just doesn't show up...the screen is the same as it's been prior to 100 posts.

For others with this problem, try refreshing the page -- if the no avatar option is in your cache/temporary internet files, your browser will often show that to you for a week or so if nothing happens to force a refresh earlier.

I haven't gotten any response back from Manu..but it looks like the issue has resolved itself! I'm waiting for sphynx's dragon to resize the pics I want to use...but it's great to be able to use the option now!

Manu does have a habit of just fixing things and forgetting to notify the dozens of people who complained.

Do you by chance recall WHEN it cleared up? I'm wondering if the option doesn't activate until a "maintenance event" notices you have 100 posts -- Maybe you have to wait for midnight the day you make 100 posts to get the option?

I am gonna go out on a limb here and sound like the ultimate newbie. Someone recommended changing skins? Umm.. what the heck is a skin? And if I were to change it (once someone explains what it is and how to find it) does it change the size your allowed for your avatar? I have resized a few times and it's saying too big still..

Thw skin is at the way you choose to display the page, I haven`t tried all the skins, but the drop down menu should be at the bottom left of the page.
Assuming you are using the default skin it should say "V Bulletin 3 Defaut Style.

As to your AV, the size set for AVs cant be increased, if you have reduced it down to 150x150 pixels and Lit wont accept it you may have to either reduce the number of colours or reduce the dpi (dots per inch until it is under 15.0 kbs. Keep asking if this hasn`t helped.

In the bottom left corner of most Forum pages is a pull down menu with several selection for color schemes and information layout. There's also a similar menu near the botom of the Edit Options page of your User CP (or quic links) to set a default choice.

You problem with your avatar being "too large" is probably the Filesize limit of 15Kb. The solution is to save you avatar in JPeG format withthe JPeG quality reduced to "Medium" -- IrfanView expresses it as a compression percentage and 70% compression seems to work for most images o meet the 15Kb filesize limit.

If you don't have Irfanview or PaintShop Pro, consult your help menu about "JPeG compression" or "JPeG quality" to determine how to change it in your program.

Irfanview (www.irfanview.com) or PaintShop Pro (www.jasc.com are rpograms that make resizing for (non-animated) avatars fast, easy and nearly foolproof. Irfanview is totally free; Paintshop pro is available as a thirty day trial for thos who need a bit more editing capability.
