I posted this in the amateur pic forum, but it obviously belongs here equally. So, here goes!
I am a photographer and an artist. I have been wanting to work on a gallery installation for quite some time entitled Unrestrained Humanity: La Petite Mort.
The more I do photoshoots, events, shows, and travel, the more I see that people are always putting on a face, even in candid frames, because they are in public. The three times people are truly and purely unhindered are sleeping, sneezing, and mid orgasm. An orgasm that is not a performance holds a raw, visceral expression that goes to the base of our humanity.
The first wave of this project would be images sent to me that I would then complete in post-production for one uniform piece. 15 men, 15 women, mid orgasm, chest to head only (shoulders up for women, or shoot chest up and the cropping will take place in post-production). Because it's facial expression only, the subject may be solo or with a partner, so long as the adequate cropping can take place. This wave will be on gallery display for an arts festival in Kansas City in July, so the send-in period is 2weeks.
The second wave would be the same scenario, though it would be in-studio. Subjects would have a remote to the camera and take the shot themselves without me present.
The third wave will be to complete the other unbridled displays of humanity with the same framing as the orgasm shots, but induced sneezing, and sleeping.
