Funny Memes, signs, gifs etc....

I once was called in to work on the weekend because there was a critical project that needed to be finished and a system had frozen, and even power-cycling it didn't work to get it going again.

One hour later, at the office, I power-cycled it and it came up just fine.

Then I explained to the person who had called me that the monitor on-off switch won't power-cycle the computer.

Ohh, I've done that, too. Plus: "Pushing the button puts it to sleep. Holding it down does a hard reset."

"But I unplugged it, too!"

"It's a laptop. It has a battery."

My job is not IT. I'm just a nightshift front desk person. Somehow, I've become IT and HR.

Earlier this week I had to explain to my boss the difference between not needing a reason to fire someone and firing someone immediately after they give notice of need for leave due to a medical issue.

That zoom in is one of the best shots in movie history, great throwback to hitchcock

But yeah, maybe they should have zoomed in tighter heh
Just saw it again yesterday. They're showing it again in theatres for the 50th anniversary. And it's still an incredible movie.

Given that this moment of stylistic bravado takes place while a child is losing their life, it’s also a classic case of a young filmmaker copying the technique of a master - but without their wisdom.

Hitch had a child lose their life in the name of excitement and suspense in Sabotage in 1936 and always regretted it. Never did it again.

Oh, hang on, is this the thread for funny memes and gifs? I’ll shut up.

Edit: just in case I seem too po-faced I would like to say that, like the rest of the planet, I think Jaws is a cracking film and I’m excited to show it to my kid on the big screen.

One reply and we'll get back to goofy stuff.

Unfortunately, as time moves on we become more stunted therefore directors have to push harder for reaction. Hitchcock regretted doing that because of how awful it was in his time. He bucked popular convention but felt bad about it. In jaws it was simply shocking and a 'powerful' shot. These days? Forget it, nothing matters anymore

A good example of my point is in the novel Cujo, the little boy dies. They didn't have that happen in the movie, they were afraid to do it. Fast forward to the Mist and The MC shoots his own son in the head to spare him from the monsters (offscreen you see the muzzle flashes) and it hit hard because you saw his pain especially at the twist ending, and they did it.

Now? Nothing is sacred and no one cares about anything anymore. Violence performed against anyone is fine and nothing is seen as sacred. The average video game has far more violence than Hitchcock films and even Jaws.

Okay, let's get back to the goofy unless you want to shoot me a PM

Before I started this thread I wondered why there's one like it in many of the forums, but never in this one.

Getting the answer pretty quick. Christ, people, lighten the fuck up. Save the bullshit for the other threads.

When we bought our house, we knew it was 100 years of neglect and bad DIY. But finding the kitchen electrics were actually eight 4-gang extension cables plastered into the walls, so the whole thing was running on one 13A socket, was still a bit of a shock. Literally...

The cable running through the toilet cistern was also a highlight.

I'm an evil person.

No chocolate pudding?

The next step up from the starter pack would be dipping the banana or Popsicle in whipped cream.

And I guess the pickle in ranch? *Shudders*

... Mayo for the corndog??

Chocolate pudding is the advanced level.
