I had a new anonymous comment on a story and after I deleted it, the status shows as:

Commented story

Someone has commented on your deleted work

I had to double check to make sure that there isn't a new bug that somehow deleted my story when I deleted the comment.

Nope, just an oddly phrased status after deleting the comment.

Put a bug report in for Manu. Just a case he needs to code for.

Me too - it was a duplicate the poster asked me to delete, but same result.

Does the system report that comments have been deleted?

I certainly hope not. For one, a truly anonymous comment from somebody not logged in is, well, anonymous, and they can't be notified. But if somebody logs in and posts their comment as "anonymous" rather than tagged with their user name, then we have a problem.

I'm not liberal with the delete comment function, but I can see it becoming an issue if they take umbrage with that (anonymous or not). Can you spell one-bombing? I can, just did.

They can certainly tell if they go back to look at the story and their comment is gone. I think very few people are that cheered by their own nastiness. But if someone is, I guess that's who to be worried about.

Interesting though: this example may indicate that something different happens (or can happen), when a logged in user chooses to post anonymously.

And note that I said “may”.
