Difficult one this. The first shaven haven I ever played with was only 10 years ago, I was in my early 40s. Prior to that was either wild or maintained, not trimmed particularly short.
Since that first time they've all been shaved with the exception of one that was trimmed short.
I do miss the hairy ones, handy if you run out of dental floss. And some of the shaved ones I've seen would definitely have benefitted from some foliage for appearances sake.
If I was forced to choose, I go trimmed short, like a grade 2 max
