This BB is hardly any fun any more. Take this thing with R Nitlight, people would normaly found that funny, but nope. They didn't. There is hardly as much fun as a first joined.
You're kidding, right? You've been here since last month. April, 2001. Not a lot of experience to know the history of the board, is it? You're comparing today to what, 4 or 5 weeks ago? You joined right in the middle of when everyone was complaining how the board wasn't any more fun! Now 4 or 5 weeks ago are the good old days when the board was so much better? Macbeth, you MUST see the humor in that. :D

...when I criticised your prank yesterday you gave me the perfect answer. Everything was forgiven and forgotten.

This morning before I logged off you had decided to punish yourself by not initiating any new posts for a month. Fair enough if that's want you want. The decision is yours.

When I logged on this evening I now find you're leaving the Board for good. I mean...? What's Up Doc?
Ditto! Couldn't have said it better!

I do have a guess though as to what is up. Nitelight never does well when he is away from the one he loves for any length of time. Nothing wrong with that, it is rather normal. Solution? Start another count down in his signature line! Talk to us on the board instead if Blondebeauty isn't available! Speak up, tell us depression is getting the best of you! But don't leave the board if we are the ones who can help.

Besides, I bought another box of cookies while grocery shopping today just for Nitelight and Dark Angel. See, I WAS having fun with them on the board yesterday morning. I thought they were having fun with me, too. Maybe I was wrong.

At least stick around...

...until you see what goodies Cheyenne has bought you.

One wonders. If Nightlight was so darned needy for all of his friends that moved on, why didn't he go to the Shiny Happy Poster Board where they all hang out now? Just like he does. Quite frankly, I don't believe you Nightlight. Jeez, I've grown cynical.

nitelight

was a pleasure to have met you....thank you for reaching out to all the newbies, myself being one of them....all the inside jokes and references to past threads can leave a newbie a little on the outside....hope you would reconsider, i have to admit i look for your replies in threads, guess i like snide bastards....hope to see you around....april

The way I see it, nothing more ...

I think Macbeth has a valid point [with regard to attitudes to R Nitelight's threads, rather than definitions of 'fun']. It really doesn't matter if you've been here since day one or since today; the 'history' of the board doesn't count for anything. It's just a collection of words somewhere out there which are far less important than how we get on with one another right here and right now.

I'll miss R Nitelight if he does leave. He's been an integral part of this place for so long, and I've always appreciated his efforts to inject some life into the BB. I enjoyed Madame Pandora's and Ambrosious's contributions too (among others), but these have left, and life does go on.

I had a quick visit the other night and caught a fleeting sense of the multiple greeting threads Nitelight had posted, and was more aware of the responses to some to his actions. I honestly thought it wasn't a big issue then, and I still think the same now. I don't see any harm in going to page 'whatever' to find threads you enjoy. R Nitelight obviously has the time and desire to post multiple new threads, and I've never had a problem with this as I think the GB is and should be an open forum in every sense of the word. As I regularly peruse older threads I certainly don't feel inconvenienced by someone who wants to fill page one with whatever they want to. For the sake of what must have amounted to an hour or two in one day, I really don't see what all the fuss is about. He usually contributes several new threads anyway, so his average contribution subtracted from whatever he posted that caused offence lessens the 'impact' even more. We all like to come here for whatever reason and get varying levels of enjoyment according to how we perceive the Board should be [in relation to how it is when we 'arrive']. Nitelight has his own set of values, and as far as I'm concerned he's more than welcome to make the Board 'his' so to speak. We all are, and that's the point. That doesn't mean he's monopolising it unfairly, it just meant that for a relatively short period of time his voice was more vociferous than some cared for. If I had been present I wouldn't have been upset by this, as I'm more than capable of browsing for and replying to threads of my choice.

Making the GB a place YOU enjoy doesn't have to mean making it the same for everyone. I think that while Nitelight was making the GB more fun for himself (while trying to do the same for others), some didn't appreciate his efforts. Nothing wrong with this in the slightest, but I'm not too keen on all of the nonsense that has since manifested itself with regard to ideas of 'manners' [etc]. The fact that some felt obliged to email and register their complaints is curious. Perhaps their time could have been better spent reading and responding to the threads which they like? After all (and like I've said), Nitelight's 'outburst' isn't a big deal in the daily life cycle of the board. As the GB is unmoderated I think that it's counter productive to offer what amounts to an attempt to 'moderate' others, even if this was for the alleged 'good of all' (or the good of the majority). Weighing in with comments and emails about this issue merely serves the function of highlighting an inconsequential matter in a way that can at best promote unnecessary personalisation of the issue, and at worst instigate more of the same from anyone who notes the discontent which all of this causes. I would have thought that we'd all be big enough to let such an incident pass. Obviously not. Dialogue is always welcome, so thanks for all who have given me this chance to reply ...

Best wishes R Nitelight. I for one will eagerly await your future interaction with the GB. Don't expect me to reply however, as I don't find most of what you post to be of any interest to me. ;)
