I was in an office building about 8 blocks away. Saw the entire thing (save the first plane crash). Saw people jump to their deaths. Not on TV. Right outside my window. Crowds and crowds of people running past my building, trying to get north, get away. The police evacuated me from my building. With no working transportation, I walked 200 blocks to get back home.

Don't use this tragedy to push a political agenda. Don't call for revenge when you haven't even taken a moment to respect the dead. 200 dead firemen. 78 dead cops. THOUSANDS of dead civilians. I watched people throwing themselves off a 110 story building. My city has become a warzone.

But the lines at the bloodbank are around the block. Dcotors and med students are coming from all over the city to help. There's no rioting, no looting. Many who died lost their lives trying to help others get out. We're a city of snide bastards, but my god we pull together. Humanity has a way of shining through all that ash and soot.

Anyway, what happened happened. This city is still standing. This country is as well. Take some time and remember those fine folks who aren't anymore.

I just learned that two of the people who jumped took the plunge holding hands. Wow.

I only watched this terrible sight on my tv in New Zealand and cried. I cannot imagine the horror of being there and watching it. *hug*

Needs to be repeated over and over.

MAN THATS BAD

thats got to be aweful to see something like that.i saw it on tv.i was shocked what i saw there.

I was watching it in school. I remember crying in the middle and leaving the room. It was bad. I hope never to see something like this again.

A friend of mine lives in Brooklyn, 2.5 miles line of sight from the location where the WTC towers stood. He woke up about noon, had no idea what had happened. Here is what he had to say:

"Looked out my window at the WTC...gone. Just vaporized.

Life will never be the same..."

My heart aches for all those beloved humans lost today, and for those who will be lost in the days to come as rescue workers and medical personel race to save them.
