Free World under attack again???

We're trying to do good. We may be failing, we may be ending up causing more trouble than if we'd tried, but at least we are trying.

These were mas-murdering fuckers who had no aim apart from to kill as many innocent people as they could lay their hands on. To even think to compare them, or to brush them off is...

I don't even have the words. Fuck you for trying to make a political point when 50 innocent people have been murdered just for going about their business.

Amen. :rose:

My heart just breaks for y'all. :(

Well said, Earl, sweetheart.

Words can't begin to express the depth of my feeling right now, and the myriad of emotions I keep going through (I keep crying and I don't know why, but I suppose I do really. I say we won't let it get to us, but how can it not?), but I've just got to tell you how wonderful it is to see you. I know this might sound "cliquey" or whatever, but I do not give a fuck. There are certain people on this board I feel incredibly close to and those people never fail to touch me. You are one of them.

Thank you, for your eloquence, and for just being here.

Katie

Thank you hon. I know what you mean about the crying. I'm going to go offline in a minute, because I can't think about it any more.

Ken Livingstone is my hero at the moment. Teflon Tony read a pre-prepared speech and did some overacting like he was going to break down any second. Ken got corralled at the airport, trying to get home to his city and made a perfect speech off the cuff, which I think spoke for every one of us.

...I want to say one thing: This was not a terrorist attack against the mighty or the powerful, it is not aimed at Presidents or Prime Ministers, it was aimed at ordinary working-class Londoners. That is not an ideology, it is not even a perverted faith -- it is mass murder.
...
Know this:whatever you do, however many you kill, you will fail.

Well said. And glad you are safe to say it.

You know, I feel the same way every time I see a political thread about 9/11. My  goes out to you and your nation in this time of senseless tragedy.

OK, well, yes and all... but if anyone should happen to come across this mythic "free world" in their travels, please let me know where it is so's I can relocate.

Meanwhile let's all go back to watching reality tv... nothing to see here, move along.

(I'd just like to see one banner headline in the western newspapers even hinting at how many civilians are dead or crippled as a result of our world police efforts.)

Iraqi War Dead- Civilians

Tell me why you are trying to make a political point in this thread. Tell me why you think that this is relevant. Do you think it's tit for tat - 'We killed some people without intending to, so it's acceptable for their mates to come and kill some of ours on purpose'? Do you think the fact that innocent people are dead in the crossfire in Iraq makes it any more acceptable that innocent people have been murdered?

3 days ago, a group of men set out with the deliberate aim of killing as many innocent people as possible. Just to remind the world at large that they could, they destroyed god knows how many lives.

So tell me why your cute little link and political bent against the Iraq war have any place in this thread. Tell me why you think your political opinion carries more weight than the mothers, fathers, daughters and sons who are lying dead in London. Tell me why you think the tragic accidental loss of innocent lives in Iraq should be used as a reason that 'London had it coming'.

Tell me why it was necessary for me to spend 30 minutes desperately trying to phone family members who I knew were in those parts of London. Tell me why so many people who were doing the exact same thing were deprived the blessed relief I've received and have still yet to hear from their loved ones.

On September 11th, did I sit here and point out that the USA had been funding the IRA's bombings for years? No. I grieved with those who had been affected. If you have nothing better to do than to push your political agenda, then you can fuck right out of this thread.
