Personally, I think it also applies to the "cloud" in computers.
Causing it to rain bits and bytes perhaps?

I spent an embarrassing amount of time this evening playing with the hex bits in the little magnetic screwdriver I keep in my desk drawer.
I like the SNIK sound the bits make as they slot into the handle.
Mine makes a sort-of 'click'.
Onomatopoeia is an overdue topic in the AH.
"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr," he yoooowwwwwwwwwwwwwled as the bzzzzzzzzzzzzz of the bees disturbed his zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzs.
Try this one.
(particularly from about 59sec.)
This has turned into my background noise as I write - someone took the ambient noise from stuff like "Blade Runner" and "Alien," isolated it, and looped it.

Yes. Boring ain't it ?
When I was a child, one of my cousins was very proud of the fact that our great grandfather had fought in 'the Boring War'.![]()
I'm not too sure if my Grandchildren understand what WW2 was about ,let alone the Great War or that Boring War.
Sad, innit ?
We do make use of November 11th to give the young ones the lessons, and they are receptive. The history and significance is taught at other times as well, and we have government programs that fund students to visit the Vimy monument and the D-Day commemorations. Our National War Museum is also well-visited by the young. Still, the lessons could run deeper.
The problem is HOW the information is presented. Make it too simple and it loses impact, IMO.
It's all in the presentation.
Imagine a Circus Ringmaster:-
"Ladee ees and Genlemen, I give to you the flower of youth . . . ."
Ghastly.
War is Hell.
All too true.
It has been a long time since I last heard it, but when I was a child one often heard of people having 'a good war'.
'Hector had a good war and then, when he came back, he fell into a cushy job at the Home Office. Jammy devil.'
Yes, there are several cases of such events. My Dad had a colleague at work who was similarly blessed; Got a whole rook of cushy jobs in "admin".
wrong thread
The wrong thread for what? It seems to be the right thread for Free Associations, so what could be wrong about it?![]()
