I searched but couldn't find....

For creating one's avatar,

1. What type of files are supported
2. What is the maximum file size
3. What are the maximum dimensions

IIRC correctly the info will be in your user panel when you hit the magic 100 posts.

150 pixels as the largest dimension and 15.0 kb are the size limitations. I think it will tell you which file types are supported (or at least it won't work if a type you try to upload isn't supported), but if you stick with JPEG, that won't be an issue.

Not very useful in practical terms. I searched for avatar but got so many hits it was unusable.

Because you used the forum's search function, right?

The sticky I linked to tells you how to search the board and site with Google. Obviously, with Google instead of Lit, you could have searched for 'avatar pixels file size" or similar specific terms with short words, and you probably would have gotten your answer much quicker. However, the sticky also contains info on avatars, including the size specifications.

Go have a look when you get a chance so you'll know what's in there. It's just a list of links to browse.
