Col Gen Aleksey Dyumin has been entrusted with the defense of Kursk by Putin. Dyumin is a Russian politician serving as Secretary of the State Council since 2024. Previously, he served as the chief security guard and assistant of Russian president Vladimir Putin before being promoted to lead the Russian military's Special Operations Forces, where he oversaw the annexation of Crimea in 2014. The following year, he became Deputy Minister of Defense. From 2016 to 2024, he served as the Governor of Tula Oblast.

In 1994, he graduated from Voronezh Higher Military Engineering School of Radio Electronics. In 1995, he served in the Russian Federal Security Service, followed by the Federal Protective Service. In 2007, Dyumin became head of security of Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov. In 2012, Dyumin became the deputy head of the Presidential Security Service. So no real military experience. A state security guy who Putin trusts, and Putin is putting loyalty ahead of military skills.

Great choice.....for Ukraine.

Just a bit of history.

https://www.britannica.com/place/Ukraine/Lithuanian-and-Polish-rule

Did Poland, Lithuania, Hungary and Turkey conspire to destroy Ukraine so that they can partition it into their own empires again?

It wasn't called "the Bloodlands" for no reason. If you haven't already, try reading Snyder's "Bloodlands."

‘Now we will live!’... the hungry little boy liked to say ... but the food that he saw was only in his imagination.” So the little boy died, together with three million fellow Ukrainians, in the mass starvation that Stalin created in 1933. “I will meet her ... under the ground,” a young Soviet man said about his wife. Both were shot in the course of Stalin’s Great Terror of 1937 and 1938, which claimed 700,000 victims. “Two hundred thousand Polish citizens were shot by the Soviets or the Germans at the beginning of World War II.” “Only Tania is left,” a little Russian girl wrote in her diary in besieged Leningrad, where the rest of her family and nearly one million other Leningraders starved to death. “I am saying good-bye to you before I die. I am so afraid of this death because they throw small children into the mass graves alive,” a twelve-year-old Jewish girl in Belarus wrote to her father. “She was among the more than five million Jews gassed or shot by the Germans.”
So begins Bloodlands, a genuinely shattering report on the ideology, the political strategy, and the daily horror of Soviet and Nazi rule in the region that Timothy Snyder calls the bloodlands. In 1933, when the murderous madness began, the bloodlands were made up of independent Poland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, as well as (within the Soviet Union) Belarus, Ukraine, and some of Soviet Russia’s western provinces. A glance at a map of the same area in 1941 shows that in the intervening years the bloodlands had become two countries: the German Reich and the Soviet Union. Acting in harmony, these two countries swallowed the region’s other countries. Clearly, then, Bloodlands is not only the story of hunger, war, and massacre, but also of imperial conquest. And rather than satisfying the two monster states, their imperialism caused them to turn against each other until one disappeared from the map, if only temporarily, while the other triumphed, only to disappear five decades later. In sum: the bloodlands are the area, in Snyder’s view, where the two dictators most effectively demonstrated their ability and their desire to kill.

A policy that Putin, the ideological heir of Stalin and Hitler, is continuing, with his stated goal of exterminating Ukraine and Ukrainians.....

People at the FSB headquarters on Lyubanka in Moscow are in shock at the sheer number of FSB officers who surrendered to the Ukrainians in Kursk region, especially as they waved white flags in abject humiliation, all captured on video for the world to see. The Russian FSB is so humiliated, they have committed human resources to posting replies to the videos of FSB officers waving white flags, trying to convince the public that the FSB Border Service is not really a branch of the FSB, and those who surrendered are not the 'real' FSB.

This is no surprise that Tuberculosis has raised it's ugly head..... given the conditions, damp muddy filthy trenches, nonexistent clean water and cramped conditions and winter is but 60-70 days away and electric production is at a dismal 23%, no heating fuel to speak of.....
I opened up my Faraday cage, hooked up my shortwave receiver,I 've been spending a little time in my han shack just listening to other ham guys across the globe...... guys this shit ain't getting any better
Side note.....Iran will close the straits of Hormuz, fuel will soar to predicted 10-15 dollars a gallon...... this will lead to civil unrest in America......
When I have more time I try to fill in the blanks........enjoy your day.....

Noooooooo. Indian news sources might as well be Russian on this one. LOL. Actually the Ukrainian troops medical care is close to ours. Ukraine had an excellent medical system before the war started and it has one now, for the military. Russia's medical system is, on the other hand, overwhelmed. I could write an entire post on that and maybe I will if I get the time, but no, not an issue for Ukraine but a HUGE issue for Russian mobiks.

Chloe, you may very well be correct, but I did Google tuberculosis in Ukraine and according to what I read Ukraine does have a problem with tuberculosis in it's soldiers but also it was in the population before the war.....

A Russian T-90M, apparently just captured in the Kursk region, has already been repurposed and is now being used for better purposes by the AFU against it's former owners.

TB has been a problem n the former Eastern Bloc for at least 30yrs. When I served over there then they were testing us. I actually tested positive, delayed the 90 day protocols, and good thing. It turned out to be a bad batch of tests😂…no drinking on the meds you had to take!

On a side note, the Hitler Youth are off to war.

Cadets from Russian military academies have been sent to the Kherson region "to gain combat experience," Kiber ATESH reports. "Cyber ATESH received information from the personnel department of the 810th Separate Brigade of Marine Infantry of the Russian Armed Forces that cadets from military academies have been sent to the Kherson region to gain combat experience. In the units, they are carrying out assigned tasks alongside professional servicemen," the report states.

It is noted that while the 810th Brigade is struggling to survive in the Kursk region, cadets have been left to guard their positions near the Perekop Isthmus. (This is the narrow, 5–7 kilometres (3.1–4.3 mi) wide strip of land that connects Crimean to the mainland of Ukraine. ATESH added that the number of cadets in the combat zone is likely to increase, as Russia plans to make combat experience a mandatory requirement for military academy graduates. Basically, a stop-gap force guarding the gap. If the Ukrainians get there, they'll go over them like a steamroller. Bodies in positions is all those kids are.

Let's hope for their sake they're smart enough to surrender when the ZSU arrives, because as Russia's position in Kherson weakens, I can see the ZSU crossing the Dnipro in force..... and once they're across the Dnipro.....as we are seeing in Kursk, the Russians are no longer capable of maneuver warfare and are already sturggling to find units to fill that gap - and Ukraine is broadening their cross-border attacks. Belgorod seems to be another objective at this point.

The entire market will be affected all petroleum goes through the London exchange, Chicago mercantile, and I believe the hang-sang as well.... a 20 % drop in production is near impossible to make up just from the United States alone, not counting if the folk in Yemen fluff the Saudi oil infrastructure.....
If you believe that the traders in the exchanges won't take advantage of this.... whoa, do you have a birthday surprise coming.....
Another thing, my steady dick works in the oil business, and nobody is drilling to speak of and from some of the pumpers I know personally they/them have/shutting in a lot of wells. We just ain't seeing where the heck the gov is getting their numbers...

Both sides are propagandizing.

IMHO, this incursion is analogous to the opening days of THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE. The only difference is that Ukraine has no plausible strategic objective that could affect the outcome of the war. This incursion will be eliminated by September. The loss of the manpower and equipment that was committed to this insanity will only hasten Ukraine's defeat.

I wish we could turn the clock back to at least 2013 before Hillary Clinton, Victoria Nuland and Samantha Powers incited the coup in Ukraine. Better yet would have been a second term for George H W Bush who had the wisdom to give peace a chance. President Clinton's imbecilic interventions in the Yugoslavian civil war encouraged the radicalization of Muslims which in turn brought us the 9-11 attacks, the Afghanistan war and the Iraq invasion. Biden's disastrous exit from Afghanistan in context with the civil war in the Donbass encouraged Russia to invade Ukraine. The overcommitment to supporting Ukraine which included the looting of 155mm howitzer ammunition stocks in Israel encouraged the October 7th terrorists attacks by Hamas.

Yes the "looting of 155 ammo did encourage Hamas to attack but the real reason is a red heifer and the third temple construction on Mount olive that where the "dome on the rock" stands the Muslims believe that prayers made in that particular mosque are 3 times more powerful/effective....

I don't see any demolition of the Dome of the Rock?
