Did you notice I did that weird thing with the Ø in your name . I notice no one teases you about it , they are unmerciful when it comes to me however.

What's to tease?

I prolly wouldn't mind at all.

:)

Nice job on the ø.

funniest thing is that we were watching it... well I was watching it while the Mrs's was surfing the net. I said something to the effect that I would absolutly LOVE to do something like that... for maybe a week... or a season even.

she told me I couldn't
:(

I can see the appeal, I truly can; I'm a bit of a thrill-seeker myself, but I prefer calculated risks. With the sea, I'm not sure you can calculate the risk, she's so unpredictable --like women in general, I suppose. :D

If it's in your blood, or if you're raised around it, maybe it's different. I dunno. If my husband were hard-pressed to do a season of crab fishing in the Bering Sea, I'd probably encourage him to realize his dream, but I'd take out a huge life-insurance policy before he went. ;)

Too bad you don't live close by. A Lit Fishing Trip would be kind of cool. But one rule: no chicks. Fishing is a guy thing!
Fishing is NOT a guy thing. I happen to be the one who catches the most fish every year on our family fishing trips. EVERY year. No catch and release crap, either. We clean and eat them.

Who takes pictures of bluegills? Like I said, we clean and eat them. No trophy pics, just food!

p.s. I do, however, have about 20 years worth of calendars showing the fish counts for each year for each person. My nieces/nephew think it is the coolest thing to try to beat Auntie Cheyenne in fish count. None have caught me yet, but it is only a matter of time before one of them does... :)

Here is the secret to pan fish like bluegills and perch: Get a sausage grinder. Clean the fish and put a mess of them in a pressure cooker, then run em though the grinder and make fish cakes out of em.... like salmon pattys.

I like them much better just as pieces dragged through flour and then pan fried in butter. Fresh out of the lake is best, but we have them frozen for use at home all year long, too.

I'll pass on this one.

Beats picking your way through all those little bones!

I suppose you could just pressure can the fish like salmon. Not intending to be snobby, but bluegills and perch are aquarium fish, here.

I grew up on a lake and you could catch 5-6 pounds of pan fish in a half an hour after school.

they are small and a lot of work to eat, that's why I like them pressed into a patty and eaten like a burger.

Then you can talk when you're picking out the bones. Turn meal-time into a nice time for conversation.
