First Ever Crime and Punishment Story Event - Official Support Thread

Ugh... I haven't even started. I'm never gonna get it done. Lol
I’ve started mine, and Lord willin’ and the Creek don’t rise, I’ll have it done in time. I’m violating the Franklin Covey principle of beginning with the end in mind, and I have no idea where this is going to end up. Par for the course…

I'm writing a Western.

Let me start out by sayin’ that I did not smother Roy Henderson with a pillow. That was some malarkey his old battle axe of a wife made up 'cause she couldn’t stand the notion that her whore mongerin’ son of a bitch husband met his maker while some young gal was ridin’ his pole.

It was just my poor fortune to be that young gal.

As per my usual ethics regarding shifting commitments, I am not guaranteeing participation in this event. Nonetheless, here is one possible idea-

“How to Thwart a Supervillain”. It’s rookie sheriff’s deputy Doug Ramsay’s last day as a probationary officer. His female training officer Anna Lakestrider (Native American female vs Doug’s younger white male), to whom he is sexually attracted, gives him a final test to pass his probation. Doug must thwart a bank robbery perpetrated by a gang of thugs led by a Drone Deployer Supervillain character known as The Falconer. This femme fatale is Anna’s evil cousin whom she opposes for obvious reasons. Doug is asked to thwart the Falconer with minimal backup and if at all possible do it without killing anyone and rescuing all hostages while working within the standards of law enforcement as defined by his department and Anna. He succeeds, he gets a recommendation for a Medal of Valor. He fails, he’s out as a cop. Doug has already decided to retire from police work soon, it’s clearly not his ultimate aspiration, so he changes the prize for success to a date with Anna instead. Probable Category- Sci-fi & Fantasy. You can get an idea of the ultimate conclusion for this story by checking out my already published work “Running Down a Dream”. Spoiler warnings- Doug succeeds in thwarting the Falconer, arresting her and her thugs after negotiations and a single shot to eliminate her command drone. He then accepts his medal and leaves law enforcement, enjoys a one night stand with Anna before apprenticing with an entertainment mogul slash nightclub owner. That’s our hero’s preferred career. Anna stays a police officer and the Falconer winds up in jail.

Okay, I think I can get this thing done in time. The opening paragraph I wrote about six months ago for this story I've wanted to write.

"She was a real looker. Tall frame and curves in all the right places — enough to catch your eye but not so much you don’t notice the rest of the package. Her hair cascaded down to her shoulders like strands of crimson silk. Her eyes were as bright and clear as pale blue ice on a still-frozen lake covered in snow, and her smile radiated through the room.

Yeah, I was smitten. Little did I know, she’d be the end of me."

I have the ending of a story written; now I just have to write the rest. It's a cute little story about a pair of newlyweds, but then the bride commits an unthinkable sin.

These are so much fun. I swear, I could write nothing but crime-fucker stories and be quite happy. I have way too many ideas for this kind of thing.

Agreed. I'm rolling with something action packed and assassin based for this one. I'm going to start on it here soon and hopefully it'll be finished in time.

I have a question. Does the submission have to be an original story? I write almost exclusively novels. In one of my novels there is a description of events that fits the parameters of this contest. Could I submit a stand alone story that basicly repeats the gist of what is described in my already published novel?

Question: Since this will be a crime & punishment story what if the crime runs afoul of and violates one of the Lit story posting rules? Specifically the rape rule. In the story I have in mind the victim will not get anything out of the rape other than what in reality happens. To make the story I intend it can't be a fantasy rape but a real one. I won't be detailing the actual rape but it will be mentioned that it happened with a few details of the physical abuse, none of which would be sexual in nature, as well as the repercussions.

This is not my challenge, so I don't make the 'rools' of it. Also, I don't know if you posted your previous novel to Literotica here. Having said that, my $0.02 is that since this is a challenge and not a contest, and if you make a few changes so that it's not a verbatim copy, you should be able to post it as a submission to the challenge.

Among my stories in my Detective series, I've posted some rape scenes as well as other violent crime scenes, and they've been let through. And since this is a Crime and Punishment challenge, if its part of the crime and investigation and solving of it, I'd think it'd be okay.

Having said that, there's probably a limit on just how graphic the crime can be before it approaches the line over which we may not cross. And of course the ultimate line we shall not cross is sex acts involving minors.

Side note: Yay! I got my avatar to show up...

Okay, so from my understanding, you can have rape where the victim feels no pleasure (ie realistic rape) as long as you do not eroticize it.

Now on an erotic site, that can be very tricky indeed, so I would stay as far away from the scene as possible. I wouldn't describe it at all. It needs to happen off screen, and not be in detail.

You're playing with fire already, but if you don't follow those 2 rules, I feel like you're gonna have problems.

(That's only my opinion; ultimately it's up to Laurel)

I write and post here crime and espionage stories and have always been given greater leeway on victims not needing to enjoy what happened to them as seems to be the requirement with other themed stories here.

It's a crime that I can't figure out my story for the event. The punishment has been trying to get a handle on the tale beyond the opening few paragraphs.

Oddly, I have an outline.

I went for a very silly crime for mine. It doesn't have to be elaborate.

I think if two detectives (let's say) are pursuing a rapist, it's perfectly within bounds for those detectives to discuss said rapist and his or her crimes. I would think that could be done in a professional, almost clinical way that would not titillate any readers, and that's the point of the NC rules here.

I've had characters mention rapes and rapists en passant and it's never been an issue.

I think that would pass muster, but I would definitely include a note to Laurel explaining that the rape is discussed as a crime, not presented as an erotic scene.

'Cattleya – A Deadly Loose End' is done! 15K. Spy thriller elements - no sex - [Well just a hint of it. Sorry about that.] I'd like to find someone willing to beta-read it. Any hands up?

Hell would be precisely like this, Murdock mused, sipping amber-colored bourbon from his glass; it mirrored the storm’s fiery light. Lightning arced across the sky, a dance of electrified veins amidst the clouds' roiling rage. Outside his living room window, the ocean scene was an omen, an unsettling precursor to an impending tempest of fate. Over time, Murdock’s mind had become a turbulent sea, the waves of his past crashing against the shores of his present. In the last year, his oceanside home had become a ship in a bottle, and his past sins clung to him like salt on his lips.
