As far as this goes. He’s caught red handed, turned in by family members, gives himself up with no fight. Caught dead to rights by any measure.

Why would you not cooperate at this point? My contention is he’s either covering for others that helped or giving them cover to maybe destroy evidence?

By not cooperating he makes the police and the DA work for it. The more the government has to work to gather evidence, the more likely they'll make a mistake that can be exploited to a possible not guilty verdict.

It's unlikely, but OJ managed to do it so it's not impossible either.
