I am so, so into the thought of a professional. I love to browse through the ads, reviews, etc. thinking about it.

Rather than finding a professional you could find a club/group of like minded people. This may give you the chance to mix and observe before taking the next step of bringing someone in. Obviously they will provide more choices. While there will be dedicated swingers clubs in your area, there may well be clubs that are based on kinks and fetishes where you may mix and greet. These clubs are probably far less intimidating than swingers clubs. Try to find one that has play areas on premises. These clubs will focus on socialising with the play areas as options. You can be very open in your discussions - negotiations - and rules of comfort. No need to exchange phone numbers - no need for anyone to come into your home.
Attending a club as I have mentioned does not commit you to having sex with others on that occasion. Many who attend will have no desire or intention of having sex on premises or indeed having sex with others at all. Everyone, though, will be accepting of those who do enjoy taking things into the play areas.

check it out - or go to the fetish clothing stores and ask where there are clubs you can wear their clothing. I doubt it will take you long at all to find the right environment. You may even make some great new friends...

STAY AWAY from referral's you might get from the street.
Any of those "pro's" will be just as likely to rob you as give you any kind of pleasure.
Don't act surprised when you hear what the bill will be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And DON'T TRY TO NEGOTIATE A LOWER PRICE.
Find a high end hotel in your area, if they have a concierge he will be the one to ask.
His fee is only for a name and or number; and it isn't knocked off the her/his bill (the pro) at the end of the act. Barring that avenue if that same high end hotel has bellboys asking one of them could yield at least some results but you can't always count on them either. But they could led you to a point of contact that has just what you're looking for...
