Do you think whipping should return?

One of my Grandmothers neighbours houses was broken into by a 17yr old girl and my gran said she needs the cat.

reminds me of that American kid about ten years ago or whatever who was in Asia (singapore? don't remember exactly) because his father worked there, and he got into some petty vandalism, and the penalty was that he would be caned or something. And the father tried to rouse support against it in the US but most of us were, like, "Serves the little shit right." Anyone else remember that case?

I remember and also am here to tell ya my teenager will get his ass spanked if need be....didn't kill me...didn't kill my hubby,sometimes I think if there was more spanking there would be less bullshit and lip from kids today IMHO of course

Every light swat you give a kid early saves a larger problem down the road. You don't even have to hit a child that hard for them to be scared and realize they screwed up. The trick is, afterwards, you have to talk to the kid, explain why it happened, and make sure they know you still love them.

In a word YES a leather strap may make her think about it next time she wants to do something damn stupid....one should tell her after the whipping that maybe next time she will engage her brain before engaging events and yes I am sure someone will flame me for agreeing but its how I feel.

All this talk about leather straps only reinforces my earlier post. If you use a light slap on a youngster, or even a heavier one, you don't have problems with them when they are big enough to need a leather strap.

ummm...

Oops... here's the unpopular comment coming... On the surface, it makes sense to me. The problem is the whipper though - we can't always be sure the whipper will whip appropriately - i.e. not out of personal anger. Frankly, even if you have 75-90% of people who are GREAT parents, you will really open the doors for the other 25% which could lead to abuse... (and unfortunately I think my example percentages are overly fair).

just a thought. bash away. - from a girl who was inappropriately “whipped.”
