JBJ, I like you. I have no idea what it was like in the 50's so I won't even try to compare. I just know what I grew up with in the 80's and 90's and most of the women I grew up with chose what they were submissive with and chose where they took the reigns.
People who knew my mama would never say that 50s women were doormats or oppressed.
The best example of a 50s woman was my 8 year old companion, Terrie. Christmas 1957 my aunt bought me the cutest red pants with plaid cuffs, and my mom made me wear them to school. Terrie took one look at them and said, GIMME A DOLLAR AND I WONT LAUGH AT YOU. 50s women didn't suffer fops. They ridiculed beta men with fanny packs. Nothing has changed.
