Female porn: exist or not exist?

I had been thinking about this question, well, for a long time.

Does it exist, or does it need to be produced? If it exists, where? If it needs to be produced, what?

I have yet to talk to a woman who thinks that video store porn adresses them, their desires etc., and yet, EVERY woman I speak to would buy, watch, want something adressed to them.

Would their husbands/SO's watch it with them?

Could this be the newest emerging market?

A query to the crowd in the know.

Hi, Charley.
I don't think of my porn as being "feminist" but it certainly is not macho either. I never have anything the least bit violent; even the rapes are roleplaying, with the women in charge and the spanking is just of women who get off on being spanked. I try to write for women as much as I can and I get quite a lot of feedback from women telling me they really like it. Not counting the gay male stories, I probably get more complimentary feedback from women than I do from men. The male character in the stories has been described by men as a wimp, which I take to be high praise.

Right now I have four stories in progress about specific women. One of them I told you about in the 3-word thread and the others are readers. One of them is about 11,000 words already and threatens to turn into a full length novel by the time I am through.

I write because it is fun, and this style is the most fun for me.:)

hiya

it's all for men!!!

all the commercial porn is written, filmed, photographed with men in mind. it's meant to give a rock-on, not a wet patch, when the writer/director is making it, he/she visualises a guy with a stiff dick as the audience and targets the material in that direction.

some feminist writers and driectors try to aim it at women, dear boxlicker tries to be neutral, but at the end of the day man's desires are usually a commercial spur, blokes waste their money on porno, we girls have better things to spend his money on:devil: :D and prefer the real thing anyway.

i watch it with him, and her, some stuff gets me in the mood, most makes me giggle like a kid.:D

even my one dirty story is aimed at men, i tried to write a lesbo flick about my "best friend" and me, but it turned out far too mushy to be of interest to anyone else.

lorri's little rant:rose:

ps: perdy darling, umm the avatar, interesting, you can get cream for it dear:kiss: :rose: giggle.

Hi, LorriLove.
I don't think of myself as being neutral. When I first started writing, before I even heard of Lit., I sent the stories directly to women who expressed an interest in receiving them. I did so in the hope that some of the women would be interested in turning fiction into fact. It would have worked, too, but my wife put the kibosh on it. I don't really write for money although it would be nice to receive some. I write because I enjoy writing and for the feedback, and I would very much prefer getting feedback that says something like "I was dripping wet by the time I was halfway through the story and my fingers were on my clit. After I finished the story, I went to bed with my vibe and finished myself off." than feedback that says something like: "My cock was so hard before I was halfway through that I had to beat off, and after I finished the story, I went to bed and beat off again."

That is not to say anything against the second kind of feedback but I would a lot rather visualize a woman masturbating than a man. :rose:

I also write a few gay male stories and they are aimed at gay men, but that is another story entirely.

I will have to agree, though, that commercial portn is written almost entirely for men, even lesbian flicks.

There certainly has been some "female" porn produced, such as the work of Candida Royale. Personally, however, I don't find that it is addressed to me at all. So called feminine porn tends to be porn that includes a fairly elaborate plot, romance and candles, etc. That's not what I'm looking for in porn. Unfortunately, most of the other porn that is produced these days is not what I'm looking for, either, because it consists mostly of close up shots of genitals. That doesn't do it for me at all.

What I like in porn is good film of people having hot sex, maybe a little rough, but I want to see their whole bodies and their faces, not just crotch shots.

it's harder to get a woman up than it is to get a man up dear, in my experience anyway. we tend to be more for the action than guys, most blokes get a good stiff one reading a naughty story, it's got to be bloody special to do anything for me, i'd rather be doing it than reading about it:devil: :D

My only story I have written for here was aimed specifically at women. I wrote it with two women in particular in mind, but I have gotten a lot of positive response from other women.

I think that porn for women exists, but in such a broad general statement you can't emcompass what all women want to see. It's not so much porn for women, I guess, as it is considered "couples" porn. I would have to admit that what I've seen is more "women friendly" than actually for women.

I do think written erotica is more geared for women, on the whole. It's the thing about men being more visually stimulated. Why read when you can look at pictures? LOL.

I think most porn is aimed at men because men seem to me to be more easily visually stimulated than women. That's not to say a well done erotic scene can't get the juices flowing, so to speak, but they are pretty few and far between.

I did pick up a movie once a long time ago that was edited, produced and directed by a woman and aimed at a female audience. It seems unfortuneate that when you actually try to make an erotic movie rather than a good old porno flick the glaring lack of acting talent in the actors/actresses comes out. It was to say the least awful, simply beacuse the blonde bomb shell couldn't act at all and the male lead was if anything worse.

In a porno you don't notice it, 90% of the acting is acting like they are enjoying having sex it seems.

Well, you've never met me. ;)

Most women aren't going to admit that they like video store porn. It's not socially acceptable for women to like porn. They'll tell their trusted friends or friends that they think won't be judgemental.

However, if you go to the "naughty but nice" type stores, there are lots of women buying and renting some very raunchy stuff. Also, most of the people behind the counters are women.

example: http://www.loverslane.com/ Also try any place that sells the "KamaSutra" massage oil stuff.

It isn't the porn that turns women off, it's the sleasy stores in the out of the way neighborhoods with leering men behind the counter. *That* scares women away.

Put porn in a nice looking, clean, brightly lit store in a strip mall next to the salon and women will will come in droves. Put "girl next door looking" women behind the counters and women will buy stuff.
Would their husbands/SO's watch it with them?
If their tastes run along similar lines. Hubby and I actually have to compramise on that score. He likes "couples" stuff. He likes the picture perfect women and lush scenery and "plot".

Give me some good hard hard fucking and I'm there. I want to see a woman getting long strokes from a hunky guy and imagine it's me in her place.
Could this be the newest emerging market?
Emerging? It's been around for all of my adult life (OK that's eleven years, but long enough that it's not emerging anymore).

I second everythhing that you said!

Half of the porn audience is 'women and couples' yet we still get ignored for the most part. Porn (*especially* lesbian porn) is made and marketed for men. The only way to fix it is for more women to get into the production end.

And I *hate* the idea that porn for women has to be mf couples only, story line and romantic music. Ick. I want raunchy and dirty, but I want it to focus on the woman's pleasure and her realities.

IN fact, I had a thread going about this topic a while ago, I'll post a link if I find it.

Sweet.

I like (love) porn made for men. It's a 9 on a scale of one to ten. It's not that I don't love it, but that it's not completley satisfying for a number of reasons. One is that it's often *addressed* to a male audience, and that's like a slap in the face. another is that you don't want to be watching porn and going 'she's faking it' or whatever. (Women can tell- men can't) And so many more- I just don't want to go into them all (it'd take all day to type)

I like your idea of a 'female friendly' place to perchace porn. Just as long as they carry the really raunchy stuff and not just romantic, plot driven 'girl porn':)

And while I don't want a lot of story, it would be nice to have some brief introduction, to help along with 'suspension of disbeileif' and possibly fool me into thinking I'm watching to *people* having hot sex cuz they want to, rather than two *porn stars* screwing cuz it's there job. something as simple as 'I want you so bad!' and them ripping off each others clothes would go a long way (if they look like they are enjoying themselves, lol)

Oh I agree with that. Just a little set up, but not some whole damn drama so you get to see a lot of really bad acting in addition to the sex.

The movies I've seen lately have all been 'clip movies' where all you see is two naked people going at it, no intro whatsoever. They don't look like they are even having fun, or having sex because they want to. They just look like they are doing there job:rolleyes: Its so mechanical. Sure, you'll be aroused after watching them, but I still want something more. Maybe that's the difference between men and women in porn. It turns us on, but we are just picky.:p

The "clip movies" you refer to are also called loops. They call them that because they are designed to be played on a coin operated peep show and they play in an endless loop so you can keep putting in quarters or whatever it costs and see the same thing over and over if you want to. Personally, I like a little more to it than that but sometimes the full length movies let the plot get in the way of the sex too much. If I watch a porn movie, it is for sex, not plot.

There was a particular producer a few years back who said they were catering to the female porn market, but I saw a few of the movies they made and just about fell asleep. I have a good sized porn collection.....Masterful one was surprised, especially as it has never been his thing.....and find I enjoy most that are aimed at the male audience except the lesbian ones which rarely reflect the reality, but cater to what men would like to believe it to be.

Catalina :rose:

OK, I have some idea here.

Spurned on by something Sweet said : I ask because it's a matter of opportunity. If I script and produce something geared and marketed to woman, then I am looking to target what will actually turn women on in the same lowest common denominator way as porn geared to men.

What I hate about videostore porn? DULL . . . agree Fille to many close-ups and long shots in the wrong places under flourescent lighting :)

I have heard that more women get turned on in a kinky, hot Hollywood scene - obviosly the acting is better, the lighting better, and the cinematography, which does not always equal fairytale.

Angela: :) nothing wrong with liking any porn obviosly, and somehow my openness allows people who you would never think would talk about it . . . talk about it :)

Catelina: Always a woman of reason, which I appreciate always. OK, so what bored you? Similarly, I have found a lack of interesting/turn on fetish and BDSM . . . even when produced custom made - hmm, actually especially when produced custom :)

As cable has expanded the diverse tastes of spectators, so too should porn producers expand to the same diversity - but well produced ;)

Why I hate straight porn: the lesbians have extra long nails that could really hurt . . . the males, well, a given, and hence my penchant for gay guy porn, which even many of my gay friends are disappointed with lately.

I've always heard that the only difference between porn and art is the lighting.

What bored me about the female targeted porn? Mmmmmm, the cutsy, fairytale storyline.....one guy, one woman......hearts and flowers...and less raunch, more soft lit romance. Didn't work for me. I love raunch, hardline fantasy, larger than life, and explicit details that melt the screen. LOL, yes as Master says, I'm a tart!!

You just lit something up for me, Catalina. I'd love to see real tartiness in porn (vs. sluttiness). Somehow I think it would require a real actress though.

Good to see you here, Perdita :rose:
