FAWC You, Two!

Ooops, sorry. I may have been one of the center-offenders. I thought we were supposed to center the asterisks for scene breaks.

Between FAWC and theme contests, I'm sure we can all use a little break before another FAWC. :)

The only reason I changed any center formatting was because of an issue I've personally had in the past regarding that kind of formatting for a Lit story. Just call me being careful.

I always submit mine centered, but when the story appears they are all off to the left. I gave up worrying about it.

I usually put my scene breaks on the left, so I don't care if they don't show up centered here. Like I said, that was my mistake.

Biggest issue I had was every time I used the astrisksez, Word wanted to make the first one a bullet point and Changed my formatting. I figured out late in the game how to cheat it so that it didn't do that.

BTW Thanks again Slyc for running this show.

Probably the first thing many people do or should do with Word is go into AutoFormat Options and turn a bunch of stuff off, like automatic lists, etc. Bugs me, and seems to me that unless you in fact do have to make a lot of lists, it's not all that useful.

I'll definitely try that. I look at the keyboard more than the screen so it's not unusual to look up and see it has been doing evil whilst I was typing.

S'cuse me, this is my first rodeo and I'm wonderin' how the FAWC stories are gonna be posted; will they be clustered or randomly scattered through the new story listings?

There was an arrangement with Laurel that they'll all be together and posted at the top of the new stories list with the last FAWC. I think that's what will happen with this one too. This was done to minimize the kind of influences that are at work when they post at different places in the new stories list.

And they'll all be in the Chain Stories category, if I recall correctly.

Well, that took a little longer than I anticipated. But all the stories are in the queue. I include a note with each one explaining that each story is part of the FAWC. Hopefully, they will all post together, as they did for the first one.

A couple of things I want to mention. In the case of some of the stories, there was some fairly funky formatting going on. I did the best I could to mitigate some of it (such as taking out center alignments), but I am wondering if some of the formatting issues may cause problems when Laurel posts the stories. I suggest we all cross our fingers. ;)

Second, I just want to thank everyone for including tags and a description. That made the whole submission process much more efficient when compared to the first FAWC. There was only one hiccup, with a really long description that I had to parse down. Other than, it was mainly a matter of cut-and-paste.

Thank God this is done. :p

Think I'm gonna wait a while before hosting the next FAWC . . . .

Thank you Mr Fawcker :) I am glad I decided to participate in this one after all if you are not going to do it for a while. It was a rushed little story that in my eyes is very obviously mine to anyone who views it but I guess you never know what others can see or not.

Good luck with teh stories everyone can't wait to read them.

People will only be able to tell if they've read your other stories. ;-)

Thanks, Dampie.

And now begins the long wait till they post. When the millions of questions that will run through our minds in that time will no doubt drive some of us quite mad.

Did I get it edited well enough?

Was it a good enough story to take on the competition?

Where did I put that last comma?

Why is there a half a cold cup of coffee in my sock drawer?

I volunteer to go insane first! For me it's not a long drive......giggle.

Seriously though works going to take me out of town tomorrow night, and I wont get back till Thursday night. That is so going to suck. Everything will be up and posted well before then. Oh well something to look forwards to I guess.

Wonder if my foreman would let me use his lap top say mid week?Hum... have to ask. I have a lap top I could take but it's so damn old the thing says there is no internet. Maybe have to work on that.

Ramble, ramble, ramble, ramble,........giggle!

I haven't heard back from Laurel yet (I sent her a PM regarding the posting of the stories), so I am only hoping at this point that, since she set the precedence of putting them all up together the first time, she'll follow through on this one. I'm not about to have any expectations, however.

MSTarot, don't start fretting yet. Wait until the last couple of days, before I turn off voting. :p

No story from Dampy?

Of course there's a story from Dampy. Why'd you edit her name out? :p

Sorry 'bout that. I just edited the post.

LOL. Ah yes I see it there. I guess I need to stop fapping. :D

What? I go to take a nap and you people bump me out of the competition altogether? :p

My only question is, How the FAWC did I manage to write anything at all? Still, as I say to my students when they angst about getting their essays in, "If a thing's worth doing, it's worth doing badly, dahlinks."

MsTarot! you are in again! Hooray hooray! And Dampy, you made it! I'm very sorry for Shea, cuz I know what it feels like to want to deliver a story and for it to be totally impossible. The only way I can write these days is to completely let go of, 'is it sufficiently well edited' in order to just get the thing on the page, then on the netbook and in this case, pray the dodgy wifi at the caravan site would work (and not rip off all my money from the account with which I paid for it, LOL).

FAWCker/Willie, I know how much hard work you must put into setting this up and I truly appreciate it - this is such fun. I absolutely LOVED receiving my basket of goodies, what a top idea. I was very cross it was such a good one! as it meant I got an idea for a story that I couldn't bear not to write, LOL, but now that it's out there, I am so grateful to you.

:rose::heart::rose:

Aw, thanks, Naoko, I appreciate it. I was nearly impossible, being on vacation during prime writing time. But ... I will keep trying, and my failed FAWC attempts are not failures, because I can use the first one for a Halloween contest submission, and this last one as a kick start for Nano this year.

But I really wanted to be a part of FAWC this time! Maybe next time, but not too soon, Slyc!

I'm looking forward to reading the stories when they post, good luck everyone.
