FAWC You, Two!

It seems that elusive fourth ingredient is keeping everyone busy. I'm in something of the same boat, but I think I've worked in all four of the ingredients pretty well. One of them, however, seems almost like a "gimme," as in "I gotta put it in because I was told to do so." But I may have found the little twist that makes it more relevant to the story.

I think what is confounding so many of us on the fourth ingredient is that there are two personal quirks and two outside influences. It's easy to assign the quirks, I believe, and then pair them around one of the outside influences. But then we have that other influence . . . that's like having a third wheel on a date. What do you do with them?

But that's why this is called a challenge, right? ;)

The "quirks" are what has me scratching my head. Yes, they are easy enough to add, but I am wondering how often to mention them.

This is why I am voting for the list at the ending author's note I would rather not have the reader sitting there with a check list I would rather them read the actual story first then if they want go back through and say "Oh, yeah there it is."

If you got my e-mail (I sent it last night haven't heard from you so I will go with the 'you got it till i know better' scenario for now) I would like a basket please.

Maybe make it waterproof if you can as it's been raining here half of yesterday and all of today. At least the lightning stopped for now.

Going to go back to trying to learn editing or ark building. One or the other may be needed soon..

I did receive it. Sorry, it's been a busy day. Writing computer code can get a tad bit tedious and time-consuming.

I'll send another your way.

And send you straight into obsessive mode when the S.O.B. isn't doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Tell me about it. if I ever have to hunt back through a couple hundred lines of code just to look for a missing bracket or colon, I'm gonna tear out what little hair I have.

At the same time, it's strangely rewarding. Now that I've gotten pretty adept at making basic GUIs, I'm having a blast. :D

At 2200 words, I figured out the last ingredient. Now to go back and fit it into the storyline . . .

I've got the ingredients in, that was okay. Now it's spacing them out over the rest of the story. And I should figure out how it ends.

Speaking of endings, I have finished my story (2,600+ words) and yet I've rewritten the ending four times. I didn't have trouble incorporating my basket's ingredients in the plot, but getting the ending just right is becoming a real PITA.

Sounds like fun, but ...

Sounds like a fun thing to do. But too much going on right now. Maybe I'll give it a spin if you do it again.

12000 words and I have two ingredients to fit in yet. Maybe I'll kill a character off and his or her dying wish can involve them.

4+k in and only one ingredient worked in, but the next section brings in two more.

The 4th is interesting because this is something not mentioned by name (although I sued a sarcastic remark to allude to it a bit) and really only hits big time in one scene, but I think its more a general theme than something ton reference.

Scrapped and started over, mostly. Using many of the same ideas (and ingredients of course) but took another approach. when it's not working, move try something else.

I've got mine all mapped out. In my head. It's hard to write on vacation with the Kidlets! I'm soooo tired!

It's hard to write at home with the kids -- I can relate. I'm counting down the days until school starts, but I'm sure I feel differently than the kids do. ;)

That was the problem I had with the first FAWC . . . and I ended up with a disjointed story. :p

Yep. I get practically nothing done during the day because Little One demands so much attention. It doesn't help that most of her friends are out of town for the summer.

I swear I'm going to start writing any moment now....

Hey, don't sweat it. You've got a whole week and a day. ;)

A couple of questions about the instructions (may have been explained later than the original posting, but that's the one I'm reading).

1. Thought you said this time the stories would be posted to separate categories of choice rather than to Chain Stories and then transferred later. If true you don't give instructions on giving a preferred category.

2. It seems the elements are listed in the wrong order. I would think that the description and tags should follow the title and then the disclaimers (set in italics, I presume?), because the disclaimers go as proslugs to the posted text and the others are put in boxes outside of the text.

I guess this is a hint that I'm done about ready to submit.
