I was wandering through various folk's favorites lists today and was stunned to come across a couple who favorited themselves.

Is it just me, or is that narcissism taken to the extreme?

"I love me, I think I'm grand,
I sit in the movies and hold my hand,
I put my arm around my waist,
When I cop a feel, I slap my face."

Any names to share? :p

I've not done it myself, simply because I've not really thought about it.

I don't see any problem with favouriting yourself -it's your writing, hopefully you're a fan of your own writing :D

Favoriting yourself is a way to easily access your stories individually if you're in your account's view submissions page (or is there a way to get to one of your stories from there without affecting anything?).

It's an easier way of keeping up with how many stories you have posted than counting them all.

I don't think it should be taken seriously. I did it for a while, just for fun. I sometimes add myself to my buddy list in forums too.

You can see that on your view submissions page right after you log in too.

I think favouriting yourself has to do with the number of people who have you in your favourites list. It bumps up the number by 1. There's a list somewhere on the site about the most favourited, etc.

I do it. Perhaps I am extremely narcissistic, but that's beside the point. *shrug* I just see it as a promotional tool. Getting more eyes on my writing is the whole objective of having my stuff published (or, in this case, posted).

I do it, actually, but just for the convenience. That way, I can find me quick! :D

Finding your stories takes less scrolling and fewer clicks than finding anyone else's stories on this site!

Not that it shouldn't be that way, of course. . .

As for the topic, I would do it if I were one of my favorite authors, but by the time I submit the stories here, I've spent so long agonizing over them that I'm the last author whose stories I want to see again.

Elmer Fudd: More briefing?

Daffy Duck: More briefing.

I was surprised to find myself on my favorites list....I didn't put me there!

I just left it alone

ah now that's a good idea.

I put Marshtickledkitty on tickledkitty's favorites list and also tickledkitty and MarshAlien on Marshtickledkitty's favorites list. It was just to link our names together so that people would know that Marshtickledkitty is actually MarshAlien and tickledkitty together. MarshAlien is also on tickledkitty's favorites list because he really is one of my favorites. Jeez, did any of that make sense?

Since I never bother to log out, I never log in. I knew I had seen the number somewhere but i could never remember where. For now this is the easiest.

Exactly. I don't know if you were being facetious or not, but that's true of me. Some of us have more than one username with hundreds of submissions. My other alt I've had since 2002 lists authors/poets and poems/stories I enjoy. Didn't think it was necessary to list them all again in this username.

Nope, not being facetious just absent minded in my old age. :D

I've never really paid attention to favorites list but that was a great lesson in humility. It took me a quite a little while going through my comments on my stories to find just one person who had me on their favorites list. (I also seemed to find a large number of comments where in place of the username is said, "User deleted" or something like that.)

I've got myself on my favorites list, and I don't see it as being a narcisist (or however that's spelled).

That makes perfect sense to me. I wasn't talking about favouriting alts. It would be the easiest way to get between alts when hunting for a particular story.
