Favorite Drink Recipes

Ah well, Ill be thinking of you all while sipping on my screwdriver. (have to get that vitamin C). Too hot to do much else but stay in the AC and cocktail.

I had some the best tasting drinks while in Brazil. No idea what they were but I think the base was alcohol made from sugar cane and their fruits are just amazing.

Since I highjacked your thread...

When my daughter and I went to Freeport, Grand Bahamas, the bartender made us this drink that is still memorable 10 years later.

They made these with varying strengths ranging from 1 to 10.

One #3 put my daughter to sleep!

Painkiller recipe

2 oz Pusser's dark rum
1 oz cream of coconut
4 oz pineapple juice
1 oz orange juice

Shake or stir ingredients, and pour over ice in a tall glass. Sprinkle nutmeg on top, and serve,

This is a great recipe for a party or a hot summer day like we have been having lately.

Whiskey Slushie

2 cans of lemonade concentrate (pulp free)
2 cans of orange juice concentrate (pulp free)
9 cups of water
4 tea bags
1 cup of sugar or Splenda (optional)
1 to 2 cups of whiskey (or alchol of choice)
7-up or whatever

Boil the water, remove from heat, add tea bags and steep for five minutes. Remove tea bags, add in cans of concentrate, sugar, and liquor. Pour into a large bowl and freeze until hardened. Overnight is best. Next day or whenever, scoop out a bunch into a glass and top with 7-up. Yummy!!!!

THIS I WILL TRY! Sounds great for my beach week coming up.

Mmmmm, my favorite! I use fat-free half and half in mine.

One of the finest drinks I've ever had is a Japanese Mojito at the delicious Japanese/Brazilian fusion restaurant in Miami Beach, Sushi Samba. They make it with fresh mint leaves and a green tea liquer.

This is a great drink although i have to leave my disdain for Sushi Samba.

How do you like the DC w/ Splenda?
I actually rather like it. I started drinking it because I'd read that aspartame can worsen anxiety, and mine is already pretty bad so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. I actually haven't noticed an effect on anxiety at all, but I like the taste fine. In order, for the non-flavored ones, I like DC w/Splenda, then Coke Zero (aspartame and ace-k), then regular Diet Coke (aspartame). But the flavored ones are definitely my favorites - I wish they'd bring back Diet Vanilla Coke!

Do you have Diet Coke with Splenda in the Netherlands? Pepsi One is another Splenda-sweetened drink, and Diet Rite. Although perhaps you have some we've never heard of here!

Don't think so, and interesting thing is they use different recipes here to in Oz. My son loved Vanilla Coke in Oz but says here it tastes totally different and not near as nice. Have to say it is the same with many things, even KFC coleslaw...would go to KFC just for that in Oz and yet here I almost choked on my first mouthful, tried another, and won't go near the stuff again!!

REALLY? I will have to look into that. I have fairly high anxiety levels and drink a lot of DC. I will definitely try w/ Splenda.

Oh, that's a good point! Something else they got in Oz that we didn't was Raspberry Coke. I would have loved to try that - I think it was in NZ too - but for some reason it didn't come to the U.S. You can't find bottles of it anymore, the only ones on eBay are empty. (It seems a bit odd that someone would bid on an empty cola bottle...)

Green Dragon

From Olga's Restaurant - East Lansing, Michigan

Fill a 1 pint glass (Mason Jar is traditional) with ice,
Pour in:
1 shot Lime Vodka (the green colored stuff looks best)
1 shot Blue Curacao
1/2 shot Southern Comfort
1/2 shot Lime Juice (Roses works very well!)
Fill the rest of the way with your fave clear Lemon/Lime soft drink (Sprite is traditional, 7up works fine, Sierra Mist is okay too, and it seems to work just fine with all the diet varieties as well).

Stir... sit back, sip and enjoy!

Me?

I only drink white milk. If I'm feeling especially rowdy I may stir in some Ovaltine.

Can you mix that with white milk?

You all certainly do know your alcohol. Here’s a site with some more great ideas.

Great Ideas
That was pretty ridiculous. Has anybody in this thread suggested they have a problem with alcohol? A few posters have made a point of saying that they don't drink alcohol often, but here is a drink they like. Why would you feel the need to surreptitiously link us to Alcoholics Anonymous? If someone is a friend of Bill W., I would hope they would just not read this thread for their own well-being...there's no reason to shake your finger at the rest of us reproachfully. It just comes across as holier-than-thou.

Oh come on. Lighten up a little. It was a joke. If it offends you that much I will be happy to remove the link.

Doh! See, that's why I have an arsenal of smilies that I use, because I'm often afraid of people misunderstanding when I'm joking or whatever. Feel free to use those anytime, by the way - I don't think they take up too much bandwidth from my server, so they're for public consumption, but pretty much only my mom ever uses 'em besides me. :)

But if I had used them in the original post we would not be having the lovely conversation!

As you wish though, anything to keep the peace.

We should do this more often.

Sounds good as does the Margarita.

My husband makes one that is really good at the beach with Grand Marnier, sugar and lemon among other things.

Fury :rose:

I have tried mixing Tang powder with Gin. Don't ask me what it tasted like. I was drunk when I mixed and drank it.

I'm an iced tea person. Sometimes I'll cheat and have a Pepsi. I can't stand the taste of either fake sugars, and frankly aspertame gives me really bad heartburn.

On the rare occasion I drink I'm a margarita person. lol Occasionally i'll have cranbrey vodka.

The Annutty (named for a bartender named Annette): equal parts Frangelico hazelnut liqueur and butterscotch schnapps over ice. Too sweet for some, but makes a good after-dinner liqueur.

Almost as good: substitute Amaretto for Frangelico.

Afterthought: What does this have to do with BDSM?

After-afterthought: Who cares?
