Fashionable to Bash Christians?

Wait...that makes you, what, 10 years old?

No. I was in Marine Corps Recruit Training. Started 9/10/01. Zero media, no television, no newspaper nothing. To make it worse our recruiters told us that when we got there they'd probably tell us there was some attack on the US to motivate us and not to get worked up over it so even when they told us we kinda all shrugged and said yeah right. It was three weeks after the event that I found out it was true and by then it wasn't really being covered in the newspaper much and still no television.

That was a lot of words, and you even threw in politics. Do yourself a favor: look at what Christians are against, and compare that to what Islamists are against. Muslims are way, way worse.

A quick Google is your friend.

It doesn't matter what Islamists are against. They don't have any effect on my day to day life. They don't control any power in this country.

Well said, Merc. However, group mentality overtakes individual mentality, and that's when the problems arise. Speaking of strictly the radical elements of both sides, which would you rather have...the drooling, wild-haired crazies on the corner holding signs proclaiming the world is ending and handing out pamphlets, or the ones that fly airplanes into buildings and want to kill anyone who doesn't believe what they do? I don't fear any peaceful man, no matter what church he attends, but I do fear those who want to kill me. It's basic self-preservation. Peaceful Muslims are no different to me than Protestants, Baptists, Jews, etc. But radical Muslims are another story. Fearing them is not "Muslim bashing".

Do you fear people like Anders Breivik? Or the Hutaree organization who planned to kill cops and then bomb their funerals? Or itchy armed militia groups that use the Bible to justify their plans/potential plans?

Do not dismiss Christian radicals as harmless pamphlet-givers. There are plenty of them out there with the potential to kill innocent folks.

FYP :)

S0, when they have more power, that's when you'll be concerned? That strategy did not work out too well for the Euros pre-WWII.

With the Constitution in the mix, I'd say neither one is more likely than the other to affect legislation.
Oh that's just adorable.
One is more likely than the other to lead to car bombs and human bombs in the US, as well as the beheading of Infidels overseas. Can you guess which one I am referring to?
You are also more likely to die from eating a grapefruit than eating a carrot.

that's funny, one of them was responsible for a lot of car bombs in ireland if i remember correctly!

any "muslim" who embraces violence against outsiders and uses women and children as a weapon of war does so against the teachings of the koran. just like christians who advocate violence do so against the teachings of the bible. it's as simple as that. the concept of the "offensive Jihad" was created by bin Ladin and other lunatics and has been denounced thoroughly by clerics across the world.

when you use "muslims" as a blanket term you are referring only to the fringe radicals, which is exactly like pointing to the Westboro Baptist Church as exemplifying all "true Christians"

what people choose to do in the name of their religion reflects upon them and them alone. the reason that people are calling you bigoted is because you are directing a frightening amount of bile at 1.6 billion people based on the example set by a few.

think about that. 23% of people in the world are muslim. the vast, overwhelming majority of those people are not evil or violent or full of hate, yet you insist on tarring them all with the same brush.

personally, i don't agree with bashing any religion. i think the original teachings of jesus christ are admirable to the extreme, even if i don't believe in his divinity.

When a single-minded Muslim group has 2/3 of the House and Senate and 3/4 of the state legislatures then you can be concerned about them amending the Constitution and having too much power.

Yeah if they ever start getting power I'll bash them. It seems unlikely that they'll ever control any real power in this country, at least in my lifetime.

So, are you saying since the world population is ~75% Christian and ~25% Muslim, I should be content with seeing a 3 to 1 ratio of Christian bashing to Muslim bashing?

Define single-minded. The current Congress has higher ratios than that.

Single-minded as in one Muslim group would sweep into power pretty much everywhere and vote as a unified group.

So far there is one Muslim congressman, Keith Ellison. And he's not going to vote for Sharia Law.

actually here's a Carepost:

do you know why the kind of rhetoric you use to describe the muslims is so terrifying to any student of history? it is uncannily close to the propoganda spread by the third reich against the jews.

i'm not saying you're a nazi, i'm saying you need to pay attention to the claims you are making and where they could lead you. don't believe me? here are some excerpts from the nazi propoganda film "the eternal jew":

on perceived religious fanaticism and indoctrination:
From boyhood, the Jew learns his ancient laws in the Talmud schools. As he grows older, he learns more from the books of Jewish law. But it's not religious instruction. The rabbis are not peaceful theologians, but political educators. The politics of a parasite race must be carried on in secret. The individual ghetto Jew doesn't necessarily have to know all their plans. It's enough that he's filled with the spirit from youth on.

on the idea of racially/religiously mandated inhumanity and evil:
Foreign from us Europeans, born of totally-different racial elements, they differ from us in body and above all in soul.

on the idea of muslims being truly, at heart, brutish and animalistic:
The civilized Jews we know in Germany give us but an incomplete picture of their true racial character... Jewish home life reveals remarkable lack of creative ability to civilize. In plain language, Jewish dwellings are filthy and neglected.

and finally, this notion of creeping islam invading our precious american culture:

Wherever the body of a nation shows a wound, they anchor themselves and feed on the decaying organism.

The Nazis made up lies. Consult with the U.N and human rights organizations to see compiled evidence of contemporary atrocities by Muslims.

I have to say I don't know who Anders Breivik is. If I heard about him I didn't retain the name, I'll have to google him. Obviously there are radicals on both sides. I believe in the commandments, like "Thou shalt not kill". It doesn't say, "Thou shalt not kill except when someone doesn't believe what you do." I don't consider anyone who believes it's okay to kill to be a Christian, even if that's what they call themselves.

Yeah Google his name and tell me if he rings a bell.
