Do you completely make up all your stories, or are any of them based on real life experiences?

There's only one of my stories that has actually happened to me, and that's The Dream.

This year, however, I plan to submit atleast one real-life story. It's in the works, people...

Only 3 of my stories are based somewhat on fact. I added some things to them as a story to make them more interesting to read, but for the most part they are true. There rest is fiction and straight from my fantasies and overactive imagination.

My Stories

I only have 2 stories that are completely based on real life events. The rest have elements of real life and fantasy interwined. It might be a situation based on something I've experienced, or the characters are based on people I know or have met. So, for me, it's a melding of both fantasy and reality.

Reality

Except for one obviously fictional piece, all my stories are accounts of what happened in real life. Blush

It depends really on the viewpoint; none of my stories are true or based on real events. They are usually sci-fi stories or have some element of fantasy or 'the impossible' in them. None of the sex scenes are directly related to real events either.

However, last year I got an extremely good response after a phone-sex session, and it is that which made me work seriously on erotic stories instead of just typing out what randomly came into my head.

I have element of real life in my stories. One was inspired by an event in real life,i just expanded upon it.

I think theres something of me in all my stories, even if it's only a tiny detail ( i always write about "ample bosomed" ladies for example) Ican't writewithout putting a little of my personality into it. :D

Funny, with me it's quite the opposite - I write stories about how I'd like to look like. And how I'd like to be.

Slim and sexually aggressive, that is.

I don't know if I do this because I like to dream, or if I do it so everyone will know that it's not me.

I write pure unadulterated fiction, stemming equally from experiences and desires. I toyed with the idea of writing a real life experience to judge the reaction, but in some way I don't want to marr the memory of the event by trying to 'transcribe' it. Plus, the imagination can be so much more fertile.
Cool thread BTW.;)

All fiction even though I'm often asked if they have happened.

I tend to agree with what Northwest Rain said about marring the events. Also if I write about a real event I'm not sure if the other people involved would like to know my thoughts on what happened.

I thought this as well - that putting true life experience to the written word would somehow diminish it. That was why I chose to use the medium of the audio story. That way, I could use my own voice to reflect how the story was to come across, rather than leave it to the imagination of the reader. So, I've not received one single negative feedback.

As far as people being recognized in a true life story, I never, ever use real names or anything that might resemble them. I keep the descriptions of the persons involved vague enough so they could be almost anyone, yet the reader can visualize them. Also, of course, I never incorporate anything that is unique to them, such as a profession or where they might live, etc.

Every single one of my stories is real life, they happened a long time ago but are exact in every detail even the time I had a sex change and became my own sister.

Yeah

Like the above sentence it's all in my imagination although almost every character (except for the transexual [Ooops haven't included him/her yet]) is based on people I know. The main protagonist in all my stories is a younger me but with my life experience now.

Especially back then I was incredibly

So how come there are no (nil/none/null) votes reflecting that Diane? Eh? Eh? Hmm?

If your stories are true, why didn't you vote saying so?

Oh, I did. I had the first (and maybe only) the the 'some' category.

I think I wish I'd never mentioned it.

Some of the little details in my stories are taken from my own life. One of the characters in two of my stories was inspired by someone I know. The rest are quite fictional.

I'm with MG

Several of my stories are from real life... it always makes me laugh when I receive feedback that says, "That couldn't happen in real life". I always bite my tongue and just say "thank you for taking the time to write".

OK, we have 3 votes in!

Who voted and didn't spill all the juicy details??? :D :p

That would be me. ;) Sorry 'bout that, I was called away.

Anyway, I base all my stories on my twisted imagination. Oh occasionally I'll drop in a scene of something that actually happened to me or someone I know, but it's never anything big and is there only for color.

i usually write stories that are way out there (in which case the woman usually does not look like me) or stories of things i'd like to try with bf (in which case the woman is an idealized version of me) or stuff that we just like to pretend together (could go either way on this). So a lot of times they start as pure fiction, but end up true. (sex on the hood of the car.... ah the good ol' days) Other stories I would NEVER want to happen. (sometimes I think up some crazy shit!) And once in a while we might do something really fun that I deside to write about. But mostly, writing is more like fore-play, so I prefer to write about things that havent already happened.

Yeah, I never believe people when they say "that really happened" It just makes me think of those "true" hustler letters. (of course you read them enough and you do start to believe them!) I try to be tactful though, I try not to call people liers, if they say it happened I let it go. With my stories, I never identify which is which, so it will be fun to see what people say about them in that respect.

Also, I think it takes a better writer to tell a really good story when it really happened. (Thats another reason I don't write those as much, I worry they won't come accross quite as good) Since you where there, you don't have the same need to create those emotions, because you are already feeling them, but your audience is not. I think maybe that's part of the reason /sometimes/ that "true" stories sound the most fake- besides of course the fact that truth is usually stranger than fiction.

********

Also, when people announce at the begining of the story "this really happened" or whatever, I don't really see the point. I'm not offended or anything, it just doesn't matter that much to me, either I'll enjoy the story or I won't. The only time it really matters if its a *true* story, is if it happened to *me*!
