"Keth know you faking strength," he said quietly, stroking her hair. "You feel better if you talk, pretty human."

Al'ika nodded, a tear or two leaving her eyes. "I'm scared, Keth. Of Flish. Even more so now because I thought he was dead, and he's alive. . . " she curled up closer to him. "I'm so scared, Keth. Pretty human very scared, and pretty human no like being scared."

"Doesn't help pretty human. Flish very mean to pretty human when she stopped courting him," Al'ika told him.

"OK then, You safe,' he said. "But we need plan now. Keth will get brothers from tavern." he grabbed his blade and went off, leaving Al'ika to guard Fate.

Al'ika was slightly startled, but she held her sword loosely, alert, pushing any thoughts of Flish out of her mind.

Keth and the boys hurried back. "What do we propose to do about that bastard?" Issak said, "And this time maybe he'll have the common courtesy to stay dead."

Al'ika smiled, amused at Issak's remark. "We need to draw him out of the castle somehow," she said, thinking. "With minimal damage to anyone."

"Well, there's not much else we can do, now is there, Keth?" Al'ika snapped, her fear and her determination showing through her voice and face.

Issak drank himself a pint. "Better still, how do we let him know where we're going to leave the trap?"he said.

Al'ika nodded. "Send him a raven so he knows." She stood up and took a deep breath, calming her mind. "Let's do this."

Al'ika nodded. Undressing from her tunic and pants, she put on another simple homespun dress and brushed out her hair, relishing in the simple acts.

Issak and Jep acted slightly different as she changed, looking away. As they waited, Al'ika also noticed Jep looking at Fate, watching her sleep with a softer look in his eyes.

Al'ika saw Jep look at Fate, and a ball of jealousy came up, but she calmed it down, knowing that Jep always thought of her more as a sister than a lover. Her main lover was Issak, until Flish came along. . .

She stood up and paced around the room, waiting for the reply, anxious.
