Al'ika chuckled. "Your secret's safe with me, brother," she whispered. She grabbed her small pack and took a deep breath. "Let's go," she announced to the group at large.

They set off up the path and by midday, they had reached the old site where Al'ika's father's cabin once stood. Te scorched structure still remained, a specter of what it used to be. Issak set up the fabric as a blind on their edge of the forest tree line.

"We have a day and a half," Issak said, putting an arm around her shoulder and pulling her behind the blind. "Don't worry until you need to,"

Al'ika nodded, holding onto his hand, squeezing it tightly. She couldn't help but be scared, even though her brothers and Keth was there.

The rest of the day went slowly, as there was nothing to do until their rivals got there. Night fell, and Al'ika was put on guard duty first, since she couldn't do it on their last trip.

Eventually, she heard rough, guttural voices advancing through the trees from he other side of the glade. It seemed that Flish wanted to set up early as well.

Al'ika quietly knocked an arrow, scared and nervous. She looked up at the moon. It was Jep's turn.

She ducked into his shelter. "Jep? Wake up. Your turn," she whispered softly, rubbing his shoulder. "Flish is setting up early."

"Figures," he said sarcastically."We can't have one original idea without the bad guys taking it." he drew his blade and set off to guard.

Al'ika gave a quick smile and she went into hers and Keth's shelter and she snuggled up next to him. "He's here, Keth."

In the morning, they all got up and went about their camp duties. They could hear someone digging something in the distance. Around noon, a message appeared, saying, "Al'ika, Midnight picnic in the center of the glade. Come alone."

Al'ika read the note and showed the men. "I want one of you nearby, hidden, discreet," she said softly. The fear was evident on her face.

"That's for you to decide," Al'ika said softly. "I just. . . I just want to feel safe when it. . . when it happens." She bit her lip.

"I'm the sneaky one, I'll go," said Jep. "Sorry, boys, but big and orcish and druid don't exactly say stealth."

Al'ika nodded. "I'll be. . . in the shelter," she said softly, brushing past them. Ducking in it, she curled up and rocked herself.

Al'ika nodded and she stood up. Her tears had dried and she looked at him. "Let me say good-bye real quick," she said softly.

Coming out of the shelter, she kissed and hugged Issak, then kissed and hugged Keth. "I'll be fine," she said softly to the two of them, her voice wobbling. "You'll- you'll know when you can get me. I promise."

Shaking, she squared her shoulders and set off for the glade, wearing a dress and nothing else.

"True to his word, Flish had set up a picnic blamket in the middle of the glade. He was holding a picnic basket. "Please, have a seat on the blanket," he said. "We can put that whole burning me thing in the past, right?"

"I suppose so," Al'ika said quietly, taking a tentative seat on the blanket. He had done these things when he courted her in the past.

When she sat down, the blanket gave way and dropped her down a pit into the waiting, rough arms of the orcs. That was what was being dug all day! Flish laughed and jumped down the hole after her and said, "Back down the tunnel, boys! It's going to be a good night!" they began to carry Al'ika off and some stayed back to collapse the tunnel behind them.

Al'ika screamed and cried out in pain and in fear. "LET ME GO!!" She prayed that Jep had seen it and began to sob as she was groped and grabbed and carried down the tunnel.
