I am so annoyed by some aspects of the Christian Fanatic sects of Christianity.I will tell you why.

The other day...I was watching my niece Fatima and we were in a small park...she was playing I was watching her, then out of nowhere...some preacher appeared a Spanish one I think, and started his VERY LOUD unwanted Sermon, keep in mind this park was filled with kids and parents..packed.

Anyway...this man started railing about hell and brimstone, and about how if you arent a christian, you are going there, finally I had heard enough and decided that it was time for me and Fatima to leave..

and this man had the gall to scream over to us.."You are going to hell if you aren't saved"Normally I would ignore such ravings..but Fatima is 5 yrs old,and from the description this guy made..it scared her.

So I got her back to her mom,and she was crying up a storm.

Last I checked...Christianity was SUSPPOSED to love children, and people of Spanish decent normally are very sweet to children.

So what is the problem? Don't they have enough lemmings to come to their churches?

Christianity annoys me as is,but messing with children pisses me off.

Every day..non-christians have to hear this sort of thing, and are demonized when they politely pass on listening. Why is it that Christianity has to demonize those who believe differently?

Keep in mind I know that all Christians aren't like this, but they are a significant number.

ok done venting now...add comments if you want.

for christian fundamentalist / extremist , delete christian and add jewish/moslim /hindu /sikh/buddhist/any other world religion
never heard of buddhist monks screaming like that but they have been known to set fire to themselves
the only other religion i have not observed doing what you described are rastafarians [too stoned ]
mental illness is has no respect for differing religious creeds

Free speech can be a bitch. Sometimes you hear things you don't want to hear. There ought to be a law!

I've seen plenty of these people, and I don't chalk it up to religious fanaticism. They are mentally unbalanced. Do you honestly believe a healthy Christian would start yelling at a child?

Christianity is the dominant religion in this country, so it follows that the majority of the mentally ill have a Christian background. Sidewalk preachers have clung to this element of their upbringing, and their mental illness has distorted it. In undergrad, the area around my campus brimmed with such people. One man carried an actual cross around with him. Another drove a van that was covered in Scripture, but with every "s" written backwards. A woman hissed all of her sermons at the passing crowds, and had a special dislike of women (we were all lesbians in her eyes).

Christians and non-Christians alike are targeted by these people. Members of my high school swim team (most of whom were Christian) were told they were going to hell because of their hedonistic ways. Their crime? They were standing in front of the natatorium with wet hair.

So even though it is unpleasant to be yelled at by a stanger, please don't confuse the impetus of their ramblings. Considering the sheer population of Christians in this country, it is enormously unfair to categorize a "significant" portion of Christians as fanatics.

Hey....

I just would like to see some better manners in this regard, screaming that at a 5 yr old doesn't qualify as good manners.

As for many of you'll....try to imagine how it is to be a Muslim in the USA right now,you allready have a defense mentality cause of the Sept 11th attacks...and many neighbors and others have this unspoken suspision that all of us support Bin Laden and we are all dangerous.

when my arabic part of my name is seen on an ID or heard..all of a sudden I am public enemy number 1.

And Mishka...

I looked up the church name that was on the pin the man wore..and called them...would you believe they told me that the man had offical authorization within his church?

That was even more unbelievable.
