Of course, in some cases, it's more a case of not saying it ISN'T them, but rather never actually admitting it IS them .... quite cleverly done in some cases .... but it's still fraud, isn't it?

When I first came to lit I used stock photos, but I always said it wasn't me when someone asked or commented. Now I use photos of me and can't really imagine using stock again. And at 41, believe me, it was a hard thing to do when I put up the first shot of me. I'm not exactly what I was at 25.

I never use AVs of me and i never say or let others believe the AVs i do use are me. I do try and pick AVs that i feel convey something about me as a person and i enjoy thinking about what to use, i see them rather like clothes, you try them on enjoy them and then change.

I totally agree that if you use an avitar that isn't you, but claim it to be or just don't tell the person that it's fraud. I don't use an avatar because I am still pretty new to this, but also I don't want my picture out there. I think it's wrong and very hurtful to the person if you don't tell them it isn't you, but I've had it done to me, so maybe I'm alittle biased.
