But I see there are parties based on the sex club depicted and there are some rather extreme rules. Has anybody here ever been to one. Or anything similar?

The movie is worth seeing, but agree that Tom is annoying. It’s a movie of a 19C century novel though and in the novel the orgy may have been in hero’s dreams. In the movie this does not seem to be case. The usual interpretation is that the people at the party are the ultra rich who control the world it at least NYC
