I know it is rude to look a gift horse in the mouth, but:

My sister gave me a copy of Dreamcatcher for my birthday, and I can't get into it. I hate the characters, and if there's a story in there, it hasn't shown up yet. All the farting makes me think of Sparky, NOT a good thing.

I've reached the point where Henry cracks up his Scout, and I have to ask -- has anyone read this? Does it get better?

CL im fighting my way thru it too. Ive made it about 20pages in and I cant stand it!

And I always finish a book.

I'm glad we aren't alone!

I loved "It," and I kind of liked "Insomnia," but this is just grim.

I don't like to leave a book unfinished, either. I hope it gets better.

Damn!

I rushed right over to this thread thinking there was finally a question I could answer! Imagine my disaapointment to find that it's not regarding equines at all! ;)

(I don't suppose anyone has any questions pertaining to horses? Mules? Donkeys? Hinnies?)

Beware the gift horse!!!

It's been my experience that there is no such thing as a "free" horse.

I agree. My sister prides herself on the "perfect" presents, but she's way out of touch with my reading.

As for real horses, a friend got a "free" horse once, that involved a lot of shoveling at the stable where she kept it. I know; when she messed up her back, I had to do the shoveling.

Thank you, Earthgoddess. I'm 48 today. Old old old . . . not. ;)

I'm still in training to be a crone.

Thank you. I suppose I am not OLD, really, just old old old . . . it all blurs a bit after the Aloha Macadamia ice cream.

Now, that was sinful. ;)

Ahhhhhhhh! You know what you need?

A PARTY!!!!

A BDAY PARTY!

now theres an idea!

Well, my sister gave me a small one on Wednesday, because she was going to be out of town this weekend. Flowers, cake, a book (ick), and good wishes.

I ate the last bit of the ice cream tonight. Awesome. Far better than that book.

However, the big present is coming in June. We are going to Las Vegas, and I get a 5-1/2 hour spa day. Massage, facial, hair, manicure, pedicure, aromatherapy bath -- the works.

I can't wait.
