I have to look up things all the time but I understand it well and can read with a dictionary. My sons' father is Chinese, they speak English (and write well). Their names are Emiliano and Apolonio. Beautiful names. I can pick up some spanish when I hear it, but it's easier to read. I should brush up on it more.
My mother's family was of Polish decent and they only spoke it in the house, outside of that it was not looked upon too friendly. I've always wanted to learn the language as well as Japanese.

Montebello, Beverly Blvd. My middle name was "Jose" until I was fifteen and I had it changed to Joeseph. My mother is Mexican, through and through, my dad is mostly Caucasian, but with a little Chicano in him. I came out tall, fair skinned, brown haired, grey-eyed... but, I still identify with being Hispanic, always have. I was one of the '98 National Hispanic Merit Scholar Finalists in the USA--that awards ceremony was awkward.
