I don't get to the boards too often, but I have yet to see any discussions on this topic. Too tabboo perhaps? Any aficionados out there?
Enemas feature prominantly in most of my stories, and I am interested in the fantasy vs. reality aspects of this type of play.
For me, inescapable bondage while being forced to retain an enema is the ultimate hard BD/SM scenario. However, in the real world, I'm sure the attempt would be messy at least, dangerous at most.

I don't see where there would be any danger, as long as the enema was only plain water. I suppose there might be a slight risk of hyperhydrosis, or maybe temporary malabsorbtion, but if the volume of the enema was kept reasonable I wouldn't think it would be a concern for an otherwise healthy person.

Enemas as a prerequisite to anal play not only addresses cleanliness and erotic intonations it is also a wonderful scene beginner.

Explaining why and when and how add to the intensity and control...extending phase the play in duration and intensity.

I would have to agree with this. I had a Master that brought me into the "knowledge" of enemas. There was a ritual before any type of anal. Now I am to the point in my life where I wont do anal unless I have had an enema before hand. I don't know, for me it's almost a comfort thing. I can totally relax and get into it knowing that I am totally clean.

I don't know why but enemas seem to push a lot of buttons. They can be used for practical reasons (cleanliness, constipation, etc.) or they can be used for medical scenes, humiliation or just as an expression of control.

I don't usually consider enemas to be linked with scat play.
For me it's more a control thing. Another person having the power to dictate whether or not you perform such a basic and necessary bodily function is just incredibly erotic. Add some bondage and it takes control to a whole new level.
I also find medical scenes to be erotic. Catheters, tubes, tables with restraints, etc... It's all good.
By the way, if anyone with similar tastes is interested, there is a great scene in the movie "Tales From The Hood" featuring a young male undergoing a brainwashing technique that involves him being strapped down (wearing only a thong) and having tubes run up his nose and into his gag. That reminds me of the the party bitch boy and I went to in NYC at this place. That have several play rooms but one looked like a hospital area. it was all tiled and it had all of these tables and tubs where to you could hospital scenes.
