Endless Ends

I feel like I should be planning vengeance or something. :p

Also, I have a newfound desire to go to Boston.

And acquire an illustrated manuscript.

It may be that I'm a teensy bit all over the place this evening. 😂

This sounds exactly like Romancing the Stone.
Except there was no vengeance.
And she went to Columbia instead of Boston.
And it was her sister, not an illustrated manuscript.
So I guess it’s really nothing like Romancing the Stone.

Good movie, though.

Such an eye for detail. :p

So, I just stumbled on the interesting tidbit that Joan Aiken (famous children's alternative history writer) wrote gothic romantic intrigue parodies!!!

Oh. Joy.

I am off to track down novels fraught with Exploding Soup Cans and rousing climaxes, such as a Bathtub of Bees. 😎

Joan Aiken - The Wolves Chronicles - oddly scary children books. Like, The Wolves of Willoughby Chase and Black Hearts in Battersea.

To the person whose had five PMs from me since 10am this morning.

I AM SO SORRY

I think I'm in the middle of a rehab mental breakdown. 😂

*squeals with delight*

'Tis amazing what the announcement of a forthcoming appliance delivery can make to a girl's mood. 😎

What am I going to do today?

The last few days have been ex-haust-ing.

I require some baaaaad movie recovery. :catroar:

Well, I might've gotten a little derailed and actually done a few things.

*kicks dirt*

But!!!

Deep Freeze (2001) - Also known as Ice Crawlers. :p

Your usual underwater monster B sci-fi. Prehistoric monsters unleashed by those crazy humans mucking about with Mother Nature. Tsk, tsk.

It has a very nineties feel, which considering it was made in the early aughts is...not surprising.

Next up?

Dark Descent (2002) with Dean Cain.

It doesn't even rate a Wiki page. I fear this may be a bad sign. 😂

Also,

For those interested, The Criterion Collection is having a crazy flash sale!!!

They have all kinds of cool restored films. Akira Kurosawa. Ingmar Bergman. Cult Classics. Out of print. Some Fantasy and Sci-fi.

@hotwords229_A , maybe?

Anyhoo, ends tomorrow at noon!

Didn't link the site 'cause not sure it that's allowed. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Update! Update!

Dark Descent (2001)

Welp. This appears to be an Outland knockoff. A very moderate Outland knockoff. Set under water.

In the Mariana Trench. :D

A Few Highlights:

-Bench pressing w/o a spotter.
-Stereotypical Russian mobsters!
-A picture of a monkey mimicking Rodin’s The Thinker in the station’s dive bar.

That last one is my favorite. :p

Otherwise, it's pretty boring.

(Also, it's kinda amazing how freely they're shooting up their underwater habitat with automatic weapons. 😳)

Normally I'm a white tea and tisane kind of girl. Lately, as I paddle to stay afloat during all this rehab stress, I might've moved to slamming the coffee.

Which...is not helpful. It just perpetuates that stress/anxiety/can't sleep cycle.

A friend turned me on to brewed cacao. Wow. That stuff's amazing! The theobromine bumps me without all those tricky little too-much-caffeine side effects. Oddly, it also seems to satisfy my sweet tooth.

And, it comes in different roasts!

Brewed Cacao. I'm a convert. 😎

Also, French Onion Soup. Nom.

I - a low-level foodie - have yet to eat at a Michelin star restaurant.

(Michelin does not deign to visit Texas, or indeed many states in the US.)

However. I have just found out there are two Michelin stared chefs in Dallas. Road trip. In my future. Soon. 😎

What is it lately?

I, who rarely want anything for myself, have gone all want-y.

It's kinda disturbing. 😳

If @Mei5ter bops in saying he's eaten at several Michelin restaurants....

There. May. Be. Blood.

:p

(Unless you live in a state Michelin visits. In which case you're forgiven.)
