Endless Ends

I mowed today, for the first time in ages. Got a late start, so I was still working as the sun set. Due to its phase the moon was visible.

The juxtaposition of both sun and moon both in the sky was surreal. It's not like I haven't seen such before, but seeing it over the fields rather the than the city gave...such a different experience.

So are we saying it’s really the sun and moon lining up that causes werewolves and not just the moon?
This changes everything!

If this is, indeed, the case, the sun and moon need to get themselves together and line up properly! I mean, how else is a super hot werewolf going to show up at my e-door?

:p

Obviously science can be stranger (more pragmatic and harder to follow) than what we thought we knew.

As for the proper alignment . . . the saying still goes . . . "Even a man who is pure in heart . . . "

Updated version:

"Even a man who is pure in heart, and says his prayers by night, may become a wolf when the wolfbane blooms, and the moon (and sun when in proper alignment) is full and bright."

Ha! That is…perfectly, spectacularly appropriate!

I feel like that deserves a prize.

Something in silver? :p

And a heads up, Enny: The September Harvest Full Moon, Friday September 9-10.

"This dreamy September 2022 Full Harvest Moon in Pisces is the sound of the sirens — an invitation to surrender and release control. On September 10, this Full Moon in Pisces will encourage us to let go of everything that keeps us stuck in the swamps. The vast ocean awaits.

Ethereal inspiration, creativity, and intuition await the zodiac signs for this September 2022 full moon . . . "

The nearly-mid-september-full moon!

Thank the Universe.

I haven't been entirely certain I was going to make it until mid-September. :ROFLMAO:

Nearly home free.

:p

I have to be “that guy” now and point out that in the original The Wolf Man (1941), which is the story that cemented the werewolf mythology in our culture, the line was “… may become a wolf when the wolf bane blooms and the Autumn moon is bright”. They changed it to “when the moon is full and bright” for the sequel and all movies after. There is also not a single shot of a moon in the original movie!

I guess when it came time to make more movies they realized it couldn’t always be Autumn, but there’s a full(ish) moon every month for 3 days. So we basically have Frankenstein meets the Wolf Man to thank for the full moon werewolf connection.

ETA: the connection was there in mythology, but The Wolf Man movie was really what set the rules for werewolves in pop culture

What I am hearing is that Autumn is the PERFECT time for a moon/sun alignment Werewolf appearance!

Booyah. :p

(And, per usual, you have the most ah-mazing movie trivia.)

I have officially put back on my pastoral living hat for the foreseeable future.

That means land curation and house rehab.

Lots of land curation and lots of house rehab….

Whoever thought to idealize countryside living with the terms pastoral and bucolic has never done more than dash out for the occasional weekend visit.

I am so hiring a contractor!

And someone to take down that fence. :p

I am…tired.

(That darn fence! :p)

Tired, and in a comparative mood. I now settle in to watch The End of the Affair (1955), which, in spite of a decent cast is a rather drab little adaption. How can the director have felt love to be so flat?

After which, I'll follow up with the far superior 1999 version, which is a pretty darn spectacular exposition of jealousy, passion, and devoted love.

Actually, I'll probably just surf the first one. It's so…uninspired. I mean, why put yourself through all that we do put ourselves through in the name of love, if one feels so little?

NTS: Remember to pick up a copy of the Graham Greene original novel (1951). It's a roman a clef! :p

An upcoming project has me brushing up on my grammar.

Seven types of pronouns?

Did I ever know this stuff?

:head desk:

Today a young man surprised me by holding the door as I exited a building. Who says chivalry is dead?

As I thanked him prettily, he smiled and said:

You’re welcome.

Ma’am.

…………..

I came home and immediately made an appointment with my aesthetician. :p

Definition: Ma'am

noun

NORTH AMERICAN
a term of respectful or polite address used for a woman.

BRITISH
a term of address for female royalty.

I see nothing but respect and civility in these definitions. Nothing to do with age, appearance, or fashion. The young man was obviously taken aback by your presence. :) Tell your aesthetician only touch-ups, IF anything, not an overhaul. As they say in the jewelry business: "You only polish a gem, not re-cut it."

Ma'am, at least in the south, is also something of a term of civility and respect for *ahem* women older than yourself.

Which, I mean, I was older than he, but….

<insert no discernible logic>

:p
:p
:p

Welp. That fence I was having so much trouble with?

Turns out a 3 1/2 foot crowbar (as opposed to a mere 2 foot) provides enough leverage to dislodge the horizontal slats from the old railroad ties.

So. 💪

Removing the railroad ties (100 years old and about a 100 pounds apiece) will require a professional. Or, at least, some with more muscle than I possess.

So. Fence. Horizontal slats. Done.

By done I mean about a sixth.

Of the entire fence. :p

Did I mention that I'm dying?

*dying*

I now settle in to watch the worst Loch Ness monster movie ever made.

Not erotica.

You know, just to be extra, 100%, perfectly clear. 😂
