Whoa. Those are some titles.

I am rather surprised to find I have seen ~10 of the 44. A couple were practically unwatchable, but a few were classics: Body Heat, Dressed to Kill, Return of the Living Dead.

I've always been rathe curious about Altered States. I should watch.

I am getting ready to start on Dante's Divine Comedy.

I've made a run at it a couple of times previously, but simply could not get into the style. Not sure why. Possibly because it's poetry? Poetry has never engaged me emotionally, but these last few years I've gained more of an appreciation. So . . . we shall see.

Four or five years back I picked up the three volume Dorothy Sayer's translation. (Which tells you way more than you need to know about my to-be-read pile. ) I am a fan of her prose, and she gets praise for her background introduction, footnotes, and maintaining Dante's terza rima scheme.

While talking to a friend, they opined Ciardi as a better introductory choice. His translation is crisp, if not at elegant, and is fifty years more recent.

THEN, someone else suggested Hollander.

I don't know if you're around @Mei5ter, but as someone who appreciates Sayers and may have read one or more of these translations, do you have any thoughts?

Anyone else, feel free to chime in.

I'm looking for the most engaging read.

Must I also point out that, although I LOVE the old Universal Monsters, Lon Chaney would often transform in one outfit and then run around in another, only to find himself wearing the original outfit in the morning?

Check The Wolf Man and Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man for examples.

Makes way more sense to just be nude.

I don't have much to contribute here - sorry. I read a biography of Sayers years and years ago, and her Penguin Classics translation got a mixed reception at the time. I think this was mainly because academic reviewers were jealous that she - a crime writer who also had the temerity to be female - had been commissioned to do it when Penguin OBVIOUSLY should have got a male academic to do it.

I haven't read it, and I'm not in a position to comment on Dante in any case. But what little I know wouldn't put me off

I watched a movie last night called Uninvited (1988). It was about an escaped lab cat that goes on a yacht and kills everyone one by one.

Pretty funny! But the nudity was totally lacking. How do you make a movie about a killer cat on a yacht with hot girls wearing bikinis through the whole movie and make it PG-13? Disgusting!

I watched this! And, it was very much slasher flick meets Agatha Christie. The gore was extant, but less gratuitous than the norm.

The surprise ending was . . . a surprise. Both of them.

Me too! Though, I love Murder She Wrote even more. Did you know Stephen Spielberg directed and co-wrote and directed the first episode of Columbo? Crazy stuff.

At first I thought you meant The Uninvited (1944). It took me about five minutes to rebombulate, because in no way does your description remotely coincided with sync my recollection of that movie.
