Endless Curiosity

I'd have said Babe Archer, but I doubt anyone would get the reference. (A character in one of my HS theatre productions.)

Oooh! Like a female Robin Hood?
No? Ok.
*googles furiously*
Ah! My gun is pink!
Well, brick red, actually :D but I'll take it!

Lit contains its fantasy element. A chance to reinvent yourself, or at least showcase the qualities you like best about yourself. There are so many options: clever, funny, sexy, demure.

What fictional character best represents how you’d like other Listers to view you?

Bonus Question: What fictional character do you think represents how you are actually viewed?
Hmmm... I would love it it to be Dr Who.

I tend to wander between wanting to be the George Carlin of Lit and Mario, the older and wiser man who became Emmanuelle's mentor and lover in the 1974 movie (Alain Cuny played Mario).

How others see me is a question with many possible answers. I am sure that to some I am a curmudgeonly asshole, sort of like the Clint Eastwood character in Gran Torino, but I hope a few see me more positively.

Oooh, oooh ... me! Me!

You should just do everyone. Well, not DO everyone. You should assess everyone.

But, me first! :D

Okay. I'm going with Little Red Riding Hood!

She's sort of a mix between Dutiful Good Girl and Girl Next Door, but underneath all that you just know she is hiding something unexpected under that enveloping cape! :p

I now want to see My Gun is Pink and Murder at the Ballet! :D

Which one? :)

I...am going to have to google Alain Cuny, but I can see the George Carlin!

Hmmm. Curmudgeonly? Well, yeah! :p

But a lovable curmudgeon!

Well, it's Sex in Public Saturday again. You know what to do.

For those that prefer a question:

Do you use an alternative identity (alt) on Lit?

How do you feel about other Litizens that use an alt?

Is using an alt sometimes acceptable, and sometimes not?

The last time I used an alt was several years back.
There was a flying asshat that was begging to be shot down in flames, so I created the alt so I could create a parody thread mocking him.
It was quite entertaining, at least to me, and apparently a few others as well.

During my time at Lit, I've created two, both early in my Litizenship. The first was created to explore a kink I was curious about but didn't really want to discuss openly. My interest in it passed quickly. The second was created so I could be online without the bother of a certain other Litster. I discovered I could "appear offline" and it became unnecessary

These days, I'm just me. Like it or loathe it, makes little difference to me.

remind me to tell you my LRRH joke ;)

Do you use an alternative identity (alt) on Lit? Nope, I'm just me.

How do you feel about other Litizens that use an alt? You do you, boo ;)

Is using an alt sometimes acceptable, and sometimes not? It doesn't matter to me, as long as an alt isn't being used to hurt someone, that's not cool. I've considered an alt (mostly because I did not think this screen name through) and because there is one little sexual curiousity I have that I am not comfortable sharing that I'd like to explore and find out about.

Technically Inspirinious is an Alt, although it has been my primary identity for several years.

When I originally joined Lit I selected a username I had used elsewhere. Within a few weeks I was getting PMs that were obviously intended for another Lister who was female and posting pictures. Turns out that my username was a different spelling of her username, and I believe the spelling of mine is the more common version. Getting her PMs got tiring after a few months, so I decided to assume a new identity. I will mention that within a year the other lady left Lit and had her account deleted.

I decided to be much more careful in selecting a username that was not found anywhere on the Net and could not be a simple misspelling of another name. As a photographer, I had been trained to be "inspired by the light", so I wanted to use "inspire" or "inspiration" in my new username. I will also mention that something I heard the pastor say in church lead to my creating a name that ends in "ious".

I have used other Alts for the same reason others have mentioned. I wanted to explore some different things, so I would assume a new identity to do that. Often this related to writing SRP. I never did anything with the intent to hurt others. When asked if I am also so-n-so, I have never lied about my alts.

And I have used Alts to create new "public shared" threads when I thought that creating the thread as Inspirinious might deter some from posting to that thread.

And finally, I dislike when people hide behind an alt in order to harass others or to cause mischief.

I've had two. "AdiposeAdonis" as a joke a few years ago, and as an obvious male Alt received offers for boob pics from random bimbos and thought W.T.F.?
It was created to harass a few douchebags I thought deserving, but everyone knew it was me ( that's if you had half a brain:rolleyes:)

The other one was JustRA, and gender neutral. I used to really enjoy searching for erotic photos to post on the various threads I was interested in, but got really tired of Litsters assuming I was posting for sex. I found that i could post a little under that name and not have to deal with much social interaction from anyone.

I have only used this user name, in the all the time I have been on (and off) Lit. Some people know me, and so I don't want it to get confusing. I can understand that for some, an alt can allow them to explore a part of themselves, or be someone they would not normally be. But I have also seen the ugly side of alts, the abusive, bullying, lying, and downright despicableness some people indulge in when they think there are no consequences. So, no, I'm not a big fan of alts.....

While we are on the subject of alts ...

I first found Lit maaaaany years ago. I didn't interact on the forums back then, I spent all of my time on the story side. I created a username so I could vote/comment on stories. It was Vicious Tease (note the space between the words).

When I came back and joined the forums, I couldn't remember the password to that one, so VT without the space was born. Recently, a friend mentioned they'd accidentally sent a PM to that other VT. I was able to retrieve my old password and logged in. It appears several of my friends have messaged the silent me. If you've sent a message that went unanswered, it may have gone to the phantom mailbox.

Now that you have access to your old account, you may want to change the user option setting and disable PMs.

UPDATE: Ooops. I just checked an old Alt account and realized that I still had PMs left on.

Well. I could still do either. I like sex outside, but most of those stories would be pretty boring to tell. Parks are always my favorite.

The alt. I had an alt and thanks to two lovely big mouthed users, it was exposed and has since been deleted. I created it when I had a picture thread and sometimes the PMs just got to be too much. There wasn't a day that I could log on and not be bombarded with PMs. I left them on because there were many that I did want to talk to, but didn't want to go through the hassle of creating the friends lists. Sometimes I wanted to just jump around the board and talk to people without being "Sassy" I didn't use a picture and it was amazing how differently I was treated with no pictures. I tried not to talk to people that "Sassy" did, because I didn't want to deceive anyone or feel like I was. (which is ultimately what happened when one of them told a good friend about that name) I chose not to tell my friends about it, because I just wanted a place to hide from Sassy. I also asked things that I might not want to as Sassy and it was just a peaceful name.

I admit when I asked for it to be deleted, it sort of felt like a piece of me was gone when it was. But now that Sassy doesn't have a pic thread, things are more peaceful.

I do not use an Alt. I barely have time for my current one. ;)

I can't stand Alts from people who use it for less than stellar reasons.
The only reason someone could use an Alt in a positive manner is if they get locked out of their account or if they have a legitimate reason that makes sense.
