Perhaps I'm just not as smooth in person as I would like to be.

Midwestyankee, I beg to differ, is this the purveyor of fine kisses, custom made speaking? Swoon...smooth as silk!

These custom kisses come from the keyboard, my dear. Remember that.

Having a porn video that "happens" to depict one of the things your interested in can be a good gauge of the other person's interest. And it can be a good way of breaking the ice. Unfortunately, most videos boxes aren't too informative. Of course, "Midgets on the Farm, Vol. 7," may be too informative. :D

Also, while in a long-distance relationship, I got two copies of "My Secret Garden" by Nancy Friday. I kept one and gave the other to my GF. We'd read passages to each other over the phone. I had a pair of dice I used to pick random pages. The rule was you had to read the fantasy that started closest to that page. She'd just riffle through to a random page. We started off reading our own selections, but later switched.

Obviously, the "randomness" depended on the agenda of the person on the other end. If she frequently selects men in uniform stories, well that's informative.

We'd use ones we liked to segue into some role-playing phone sex. It was a good way to drop hints without going out on a limb.

Just a thought.

Oh for the love of god, no midgets.

I would really, Really, REALLY, REALLY!!! love a real good review of porn. Set up a check list of what happens in the piece. Make it a searchable data base. A random number genrator would have about as good a chance of finding something that I (or SO) would like as reading the one line descriptions/viewing the cover does.

Long time agot in the very early days of PC there was a guy called "Dr File Finder" who actually tried to look at a lot of the shareware circulating around. He ran a column/service where you could say "I need it to do x, y, and z" and he'd give you good suggestions of packages to try.

Now where is "Dr. Porn Finder"?

(Do I have a subject for a new thread?)

LOL!

You sure do have enough for a new thread.
I'd LOVE to see the replies you could garner for that one.

Maybe we'll find someone nice enough to build that website?

And have volunteer panelists do reviews and categorizing?

oooooooh, that could be FUN.

:)

I'm pretty sure you have the makings of a new thread too, in the meantime because porn and porn review is particular interest of mine, here's a few links. The first is a data base of who does what to whom in a whole bunch of films. The others are more general but some of the best on the net. It's useful if you can find a reviewer you can trust. The book,"The Ultimate Guide to Adult Video, how to watch adult videos and make your sex life sizzle" by Violet Blue is terrific. There are quite a few women reviewing adult film these days so it is possible to find a range of reviews.

http://www.searchextreme.com/index.asp
http://www.rame.net/ is a huge database of adult film
http://www.adultdvdtalk.com/Default.asp? I like reviews on AdultDVD talk by Yogagirl, Saki, Astroknight, Flash. Flash and Saki also have there own sites, you can get to know your reviewer to check if you agree with their criteria/taste etc.

freddyandeddy.com do great reviews from a couple's prespective
libida.com and blowfish.com, allsexreviews.com do lengthy detailed descriptions too, mostly written by women.

Great question....Been married for nearly 18 years now and have always had difficulty with this one. I've always been a little on the wild/adventurous side and she's always been very vanilla. I've tried introducing things in many different ways - pillow talk, notes, erotic stories that incorporate she and I (and maybe a third person) as the participants, blurted ideas out when I'd had a few to drink, asked her to write down or tell me her fantasies, set the stage with candles, scents....you get the picture. She has never - and I mean never - reciprocated....Wait, about fourteen years ago she wrote down a fantasy involving a grocery checker she saw at the store. But that's it.
I'm sort of a glutten for punishment I guess, cause her reaction has never stopped me. I must admit, here, that she has played along with most everything I've ever tossed out there - sometimes a little more enthusiastically than others. She hasn't gotten rid of me yet for being too much of a perve either. I guess it's her imagination that's my only bedroom gripe, not her participation.
As for advice on how to introduce things - know your partner and be willing to accept their reaction. Unless s/he is an asshole the reaction shoudn't be too unexpected (You probably already have a good idea of how far you can go). Be brave though...You might be surprised to find out you have just released their "inner Baja" and set the stage for years of fun and exploration. I intend to be married to my wife for the rest of my life. I've learned to accept her reaction when it's negative and enjoy it when it's positive.
Nobody ever truly bats a thousand but nobody ever gets a hit unless they take a swing at it either (barf on the bad cliche - sorry). Good luck.

I clicked on searchextreme, which allows you to choose vids by performer or fetish (which isn't exactly how I look at things but is a place to start.) The fetish list was Very thorough, had several things I'd never heard of: dendrophilia (sex with teeth??), teabagging, and reverse gangbang, among others. Thought i was pretty knowledgeable but these got me wondering.

Good Vibrations has a catalog that is woman friendly (and woman-owned, I think) with categories of vids for various groups, and you can rent thru the mail. Even the ones that are supposed to be for women though, that I've seen so far anywhere, make me think I should go out and direct my own.
