Ekserb's picture thread

wow that's an awesome close up pic!

And that's why it was so hard to get! I had to hold the camera with flash attached, make sure the flash was pointed at the wall in front of me (bounced flash is softer and more flattering), look through the lens to try and figure out if my framing was right, guess the proper distance for focus, then press the shutter release while keeping everything still once I had it all figured out.

I wanted to post the color of my iris. It's hard to describe the blue-grey and green parts - much easier just to see it. Also, look at my long, lustrous eyelashes! :)

EDIT: Hmm. I always thought they were blue and green, but on closer inspection it appears to be blue and hazel. Must be some of Mom's brown eyes sneaking in.

Wow. Over a month since the last post. I hope it's been worth the wait. I have some new pictures hot from the camera.

I bought a second flash unit on eBay and I've been playing around with my camera's wireless flash control. It doesn't work like I think it should, but it does the job.

Here I used the more powerful flash as the main "key light" (camera right) and used a door as a reflector to bounce some of that light into the shadows of my body. I set the second flash in the other room and used it as a "hair light," creating a thin rim of light along the left edge of my body.

I had to make sure to use the walls to block the lights to get a nice black background, and to avoid shooting the hair light directly into the lens.

With all this prep, there was still a lot of junk in the frame (the door frame, for example), so I had to clean it up a bit in Photoshop. I'm really happy with the results.

With all the work I'm putting into these self nudes, I think it's time i invest in some studio strobes. I've joined a site called Model Mayhem in hopes of finding some local models to shoot. I worked with a couple male models the other day, and you can read about that on my web site blog. I'm supposed to be shooting a couple of girls in the coming weeks. I'm looking forward to actually looking through the viewfinder at someone else for a change.

Without further ado, here are tonight's photos:

Beautiful. I like the way they're almost abstract -- there's a remoteness to these images that's intriguing.

I kinda think you need a haircut, though. ;-)

Thanks, Mo!

I do need a haircut, but I'm procrastinating. I just hate going down there for something so trivial.

After some feedback from a photographer whose work I admire, I'm working on some changes to these images. Check back later today and they'll be slightly different.

Okay, the most recent set is updated and added to the index.

Thanks, Jen! That's the kind of look I was going for with this set, so I'm glad it worked out.

As far as the coffee table book, I'm mulling over a few ideas for such a book (or two) and when I have enough high quality images I might get a few books made. I doubt the audience will be very large, but it might be fun to sell some copies.

Hiii.

Long time no..see? ;) You're still lookin' pretty good, if I should say so myself. Also..the pics are amazing like usual. :D

I'm not as prolific as most other Lit members, but I do aim to please. Quality over quantity.

Thanks!

Thank you! One of my faves from this set.
You have a great eye for a subject and I know how difficult it can be to take a good picture of yourself. Will enjoy searching through your thread for more. T :) hank you for sharing.

that would be wonderful....start w/ a small audience of buyers first, then
work on up! :)

I'm afraid it will be a very small audience of buyers. As much as you and I would like to think otherwise, the market for naked pictures of men is pretty limited. Hehee.
