Echoes of Mankind is set in a distant future when a group of settlers from Earth travel to the Tau Ceti system and settle on a Earthlike planet orbiting a G-Class Star. Contact with Earth is lost and following no subsequent ship's from Earth arrive on Terra (the name the settlers have given the planet), the Terran leaders choose to create a new beginning. With successive generations, the value of Earth is lessened and eventually the home of humankind is forgotten totally. The location of Earth is lost as well.

Time line of Events:

Earth Lineage:

AD 2090: 3 ships sent with 1000 people in cryogenic sleep out into space. 1 ship to Alpha Centauri, 1 ship to Andromeda, 1 ship to Tau Ceti.

Ship to Alpha Centauri called: Eos
Ship to Andromeda called: Explorer
Ship to Tau Ceti called: Discovery

AD 2093: Ecological and environmental destruction begins on Earth. Mass evacuation of people begins to Mars, the Moon, Venus and the Outer Planets.

AD 2095: Earth atmosphere now toxic, evacuated Earth govt now on Mars classifies Earth as a dead planet.

AD2099: Human colonies on outer planets vanish as a alien fleet descends on the Solar System. Last recorded entry of human origin states that Mars has been annexed and the alien fleet sends ships into Earth. No other contact made.

Terran Lineage:

OTC: Landing of the DISCOVERY on hospitable planet. Ship's computer builds first settlement on a plain on the planet and re-awakens the sleeping humans. Computer then goes into dormant stage.

10TC: 3 further settlements built. First settlement becomes capital called Terra Prime. Planet named Terra.

50TC: Exploration of Planet complete, no alien native forms found except for xeno-plants. Expansion of further settlements.

100TC: 1st Council of Terra held at Terrae Novis. Council concludes they are the only humans left after no contact with Earth or no arrivals of ships from Earth or the Solar System.

100-950: The history of Terra (technological and sociological progress of Terran society is comparable to 21st society/technological levels of Earth)

975TC: Terran government approves building of the first Interstellar space vessel

1076 TC (Terran Calender = 2507AD Earth Year) the first interstellar ship built by the Terrans called Terra 1, is commissioned and sent on a scouting mission to other solar systems to look for anylife at all.

Echoes of Mankind is a story based on the descendants of Earth returning to the Solar System and Earth after almost 400 years.

Character Brief

Treloar Noviscum

Age: 32

Physical Description: Commander Treloar Noviscum is a impressive specimen standing at 6f6, with a broad frame. His eyes are green with hints of hazel. Hair is brown with tinges of red at the sides. He weighs in at 99tk (Terran kilos) which for his age is a normal weight.

Family History: The Noviscum family is one of the founding families since Terra settlement. The first generation Noviscum was Charliz Noviscum who was part of 1st Terran Council at Terra Prime during the foundation years. Treloar Noviscum is a 22nd Generation descendent whos mother was Aleksandra Murosette and father was Bayert Noviscum.

Treloar decided to opt for the Terran League which went against the principles of every male of the family in pre-existing generations becoming part of the Terran council. Treloar was always fond of the stars and wanted to explore the wide spaces out in the vacuum of space.

Treloar has 2 sisters who are older than him married to high profiled Terran League Captains. This afforded Treloar to be given every chance possible within the League.

Terran League Career: At the age of 22, Treloar graduated from the Terran Astronomical Academy with full honours and joined the Terran League as a Junior Officer.

By the age of 27, Treloar had exceeded his own and superior officer's expectation when he was given command of the Terran Planetary Defence force. His force lay the ground work for the commencement of building of the Terran Defence Grid which gave Terra protection from space to ground fire.

Due to this achievement, Treloar was promoted to Commander status and was highlighted for the future mission into the Stars with the much touted first interstellar vessel being built called Terra 1.

Current Summary: Commander Noviscum has accepted his position with relish and is now at the capital Terra Prime at the Ashanti Colliseum for the Mission pre launch dinner and ceremony. Here he will meet his crew.

Kitra Seerzman

Kitra stands at 5' 5" tall. Despite appearing to be petite, she can handle her own. She has chestnut colored hair and jade green eyes. She is 25 years old.

The Seerzman family were part of the third and last settlement on Terra. She comes from a long line of geologist, archeologist and other scientist. Her mother is Helina Eysner and a noted historian. Her father is Gerard Seerzman and a well-known archeologist who retired to take up a full time leadership in a group opposed to the government's space program. Along with his wife they propose that the space program on Earth was the beginning of the destruction of humankind and have made dire and well advertised predicitons that Terra inhabitants were only repeating a disasterous history.

In complete disagreement with her parents and other family members, Kitra joined the program and studied to be a weapons specialist. She excelled in all her classes and graduated at the top of her class.

She then pursued a spot on the first space flight with the same directness and single mindedness that her parents use in trying to bring opposition to it. Her actions have caused her to be disowned by her family and her parent's actions have caused her to be looked on with suspicion by many of those she works with. It has taken her a long time to convince people she was not trying to join the program in order to sabotage it at her familie's beheast. She almost did not make the program but one of the scheduled weapons experts that were due to go was taken ill and not expected to recover before the launch date. Kitra, being the best replacement is now taking his place.

Her immediate family consists of her parents and one sibling, a brother, who is a scientist and in complete agreement with her parent's views.

Terra 1: Design and Capabilities

Terra 1

Commissioned: 1076 TC

Design Particulars: The interstellar spaceship is made up of two alloys found on Terra, Trythobium and Eluthysium, which have withstood all known pressure, strength and dexterity tests and passed with flying colours.

* Size: Vessel diameter is is over 10 Terran kilo-miles (Kilo-miles to earth standards is equivalent to 6 miles long) and 5.5 miles wide. The vessel was built while in Terran orbit. It used salvaged parts of the Discovery.

* Engines: The engines are improvements made on the initial engines of the Discovery, based loosely on the Plasma Flux Drive. The new engines are powered by Singularity Nano-Plasma Fission Drives that converts vacuum matter into energy through the process of replication of waste on the ship and particles from the matter. Each particle is broken down and the atoms coalesced within the Plasma Cells of the drive that is than in turn turned into gas form and instilled into the fission compartments.

* Drives: Singularity Nano-Plasma Fission Drives. Drives can be sent into mech and warp speeds. Warp speeds up to 10 and mech speeds up to 5.

* Weapons: The vessel has 4 sets of weapons. Two defensive and the other two offensive.

Defensive: Stealth mode - Vessel can undergo up to 12 hours at a time of stealth. This option requires much power from the drive.

String Aechon Field: That is a strong stasis field for many known weapons. It has a 98% wear rate and is 99% positive on the Atherton Defensive Register of Terra Prime Academy.

Offensive: String Tachyon Laser Cannons/Guns on both sides of ship as well as on the bottom and top. Massive fire power.

Fusion Feeder Missiles - can destroy most targets in testing.

Ship AI: Fully advanced. Key programming underwent on Discovery. The dormant computer on the original ship, data banks were opened and copied. Ship AI has full knowledge of Earth, history, the mission objectives as well as life support operator.

Hmm. I'm not usually too into sci-fi threads, as most technology goes over my head, but this seems kind of interesting. Mind if I join?

Name: Drel Walker
Age: 37

Physical Description: Drel Walker stands 5'6" high, and is a physically powerful man. His light brown hair is kept cropped close to his head. His eyes are a deep brown, and his face seems set in a permanent glare of disapproval.

Family History: The Walkers are a long line of hard-working, but very forgetful people who want absolutely nothing to do with anything exciting or groundbreaking. The reason any of them ever came along to Terra is unknown.

Drel is the one of four children of two hard-working and deeply religious parents who in no way have ever approved of anything he's done. The black sheep of the family, they don't acknowledge him, and he doesn't acknowledge them.

Career: Drel went into the military program as soon as he was able, and showed himself to be a capable weaponry specialist. He kept himself in the top few while in training, but once out showed himself to have serious attitude problems.

He's worked on a number of projects, from weapons development, to testing, to maintenance, and any number of other jobs he could be shipped off to do. His former commander managed to pull some strings and have him scheduled to leave the planet in the hopes of never having to deal with him again.

Although qualified for promotion, he's never gotten one due to his rudeness and lack of respect for his superiors. Although an arrogant and throughly annoying individual, he's managed to toe the line when necessary, and is skilled enough to allow some oversights to his behavior, although no one ever wants to deal with him for a long period of time.

Drel himself couldn't care less whether he goes into space or stays on Terra. As long as people will stop bothering him all the time.



That work? Yes, no? I can make changes. Deep, radical changes.

This will be my second person.

Loril seems like the most unorganized person in the world. In fact, if she had had to use paper and pen instead of her electronic notebook in her classes she would have never found her notes to study with. She has the classic blonde hair, blue eyes look and her hair is more than likely done up in a bun that is continuously coming unraveled.

However, looks can be decieving. This scatterbrain is the First Helmsman and a damn good one at that. Well, as well as can be determined by her virtual test scores. Of course, this being the first manned flight into space, time will only tell. Once she gets behind the consol panel, though, she seems almost like a different person, centered and controlled and right on target. One professor told her that he would hate to have her as a housekeeper but that he would fly in a spaceship with her any time. He had been one of her employers when she was trying to work her way through the university.

So far, Loril's service record is shining. She has no past as she has no family. They died of an unknown disease before it could be analiyzed and treated, leaving her an orphan. This situation never bothered her in the past for she was taken in by her godparents, both of which are now deceased.

She sees this mission as a good starting point to a new life and a new beginning. She is anxious to get on with it and has spent most her nights studying the helm, to the irritation of the servicemen who would have asked her out.
