Dutch news for lesbian (married) couples.

A special commitee in The Netherlands has advised the government to grant both women who are a (married) lesbian couple, when one of the women gave birth to a child, full parentship, including the other woman who didn't give birth, or at least the right to 'acknowledge' the child as hers.

Too bad I can't read or understand the article, but I'm glad to hear of it. Thank you for sharing the wonderful news. I wonder how easy it is to apply for a Dutch citizenship. It'll be a few hundred years before we'll have anything close to this in the United States.

For inhabitants of EU (European Union)-members, citizenship for another EU-country is easily acquired (I think). For American, British and perhaps Australian citizens it shouldn't be too hard either, but if you're not from either one of those areas, you might have to live in The Netherlands and wait for 5 years or longer.
