Keep it in the IC, you two. Do I have to seperate you? Is that what you want? :p

~smirks~ Depends on what you're going to seperate us with.

I'm keepin' my mouth shut this time. Wistles a little tune.

Brom I think there is hope for you yet, she seems sympathetic

Both ideas are appealing, honestly. I wasn't expecting to be a villain but I don't mind playing a bad guy. It'll be an interesting change of pace.

It would also be possible for the two ideas to be combined. The dragon that lost it's rider has gone into the wild to grieve, only to be trapped by my character and offered a chance at recovering what he lost. Just a thought. In the end, whichever variant sunandshadow prefers is fine by me.

You don't have to be evil, more like sneaky and clever and willing to accomplish your goal by whatever means necessary. It could even be a noble goal, as long as it's in conflict with the goals of the 'good guys' and you have an 'ends justify the means' philosophy that makes us the villains lol.

Having thought it over, the grief thing is heavier that I want to get into right now, I think it would be more fun to play a wild dragon who is proud of his independence but impressed by anyone powerful enough to capture him and tempted by his curiosity about humans (or elves, from the story it seems like those are the two races which can be dragonriders). Also, it seems like the token of the bond is like a small handprint of light which the dragon puts on the rider's hand, so that's what you should demand from me. And I'm supposed to be some solid color, I don't really care what so just pick something which coordinates with your appearance and isn't the same as any other dragon character. Um not orange though, I hate orange lol.

Keep talking like that, caela, and I'll have plenty of natural hardwood to seperate you with. :D

I don't know that I'll be truly wicked, but the heroes will see me as a villain, so there's no need to avoid the title. We'll know the real truth of the matter.

Sunandshadow, as far as color for your character, I'll let you choose. I was thinking green, yellow, or purple. Which of those would you prefer?

Hmm. Caela, if you are Brom's dragon, what color will you be?

Checking out the wikipedia article some more, I see that blue, red, black, and gold dragons exist, and a green one is expected to hatch. And the blue is the only female, looks like Saphira is destined to be the 'eve' rebuilding the dragon race - showdolly, are you thinking of doing her first pregnancy as part of the roleplay?

I know we were going to alter it, so that Caela could play a female dragon as well.
Oh I see, for some reason I was imagining Caela was going to play a male dragon that would be Saphira's mate, but this makes more sense. Although now I am pitcturing female dragons pregnant with half human children, eheh. Please excuse my pervy mind.

Hmm. Caela, if you are Brom's dragon, what color will you be?

I was thinking black or gold (probably black though but who knows what mood I'll be in when I type up a character bio!) but if you have a color preference don't wait for me to declare one.

K....

On the shade thing, sorry guys - lol - not a big deal to me. I just knew it wasn't a specific character, and was using it to describe "the evil dudes" - and even upon the explanations here, I don't see that's a problem. ;) It could very well be used ALSO as a word to describe those 'possessed' with THE shade... KWIM? Anyway, so goes it. ;)
I'm not one that's big on every little detail, and having not read the books, it's not going to be accurate. If you want a thread which closely follows the books, this probably isn't the one for you.... BUT, I DO plan on following a lot of what I saw in the movie -

IE
A dragon dies if his rider dies
But I like sunandshadow's idea (welcome Armphid!! So glad to see you in here!! YAYNESS!!), and think it might work that this dragon's rider had maybe denied their calling and run away or something... and/or that armphid's character stole the dragon away. maybe he's magic and is controlling the beast from returning to and protecting its true rider.... (or is using magic to make the dragon think he IS its true rider?)
Just some ideas - you guys go ahead with whatever. Sounds like a plan, and yes as long as we won't be having people leave the thread over it (and knowing that sunandshadow is indeed a female wanting to write a male role), I'm fine with the play. :) :rose:

Caela - if you want more than one role you're welcome to them!!
Same goes to the rest of you - especially females here who are wanting to play more than one role. I myself will most likely take on an extra role, soon as we see what's needed.

I think we're about set though, as far as basic characters go.....

Okay, looks like this is what we've got so far:

Saphira - f/dragon - showdolly
Eragon - m/18 - TirithIre
Brom - m/40s - The_gladiator
Arya - f/early 20s - SuthernCumfort
Durza - m/evil/30s? - Blueside

showdolly - more??
caela - dragon?? more??
sunandshadow - (m)/dragon?
armphid - (m)/??

I think we can start with this, if you last three :D ;) will post a character bio if you're making up your own. LOL

We'll need a Mourtag eventually, and maybe some Verdan people, royalty, etc. I might play some Verdan royalty of some sort... probably a princess or something.
Is StarSailor going to play with us?

Breakdown so far:
2 males, protagonists
2 males, antagonists (counting armphid?)
1 female protagonist, captured to start
1 female dragon (not counting caela)
1 male dragon (counting sunandshadow)

IC Thread is now up!!

**Cue Brom and Eragon, at the burned farm. Brom, get him out of there! Have him call back his dragon.... And yes, this is the only time I'll GM that much. LOL**

I figure since our Brom player has such an extensive knowledge of the lore of the story etc, this would be a good place to start. Plus it skips over the characters (uncle, cousin) we don't have, and allows for sub-plots by antagonists.

Thanks all for playing!! I'm excited and think this thread has much promise!

Let me say first that I am sorry for correcting you showdolly :rose: It was wrong of me.
next, that my posts this weekend will be non-existent to slim
but I'm not abandoning you all
thanks!

btw, anyone remember what Brom's physical description is?

Name: Midnight
Age: newborn (Brom will have to find her egg!) but appears about 20 in human shape
Race:Dragon
Appearance: Dragon: once full grown she's actually a rather small dragon only having a wingspan of about 18ft but she's fast and her size makes her highly manuverable. Her hide is true black with deep blue highlights around the edges of her wings and scales making her almost invisible, except as a shadow, when she flies at night. Large knowing eyes are a contrast to her hide being a soft grey so light that in the right light they almost seem to melt into the whites of her eyes.
Human: when in her human shape she stands at roughly 5'4 with hair the color of her dragon hide, pale, translucent skin, and those same disconcerting grey eyes she has in her dragon shape. Her human body is well toned but curves as well with firm breasts, a narrow waist, gently curving hips and a tight ass.
Bio: Unhatched, Midnight waits for her rider to find her egg but she grows impatient and had a few things to say about him taking so long when he finally does find her.

nice discription Caela m'dear
where is your egg currently located?
I promise not to give player knowledge to Brom, but I should probably know, lol

lol...honestly I hadn't thought about that. It might make things interesting if they found it soon and Brom had to try training both his new dragon and Eragon...or you could wait and perhaps the Varden could have had the egg and it had simply rejected all of their offers for riders until Brom appears.

either plan works for me
let me know which you prefer

and, nice post TirithIre, looks good to me!

haha thanks Gladiator... I wasn't sure if dragon riders had telepathy... but I used what I know about lore dragons and they did, so meh lol

Pffffft, why does everyone keep making me make choices lol. I don't have a preference really. Though the sooner Brom finds Midnight's egg the sooner he's not alone.

yeah, lets make it sooner, lol!
sorry, I'm just indecisive I can never make a decision...maybe its because I'm male? duhno

and you are a go on telepathy Tirith, they most certainly have telepathy.

Thanks Caela. :)

Oh I get a human form too? That's convenient, I was wondering how the physics of human/dragon sex was going to work. :D Okay, that means I need a human appearance. Armphid, what would you consider attractive in a male? I'm kinda vaguely thinking I might be a white dragon with my human form having white-blond hair (length?) and with very pale skin, and both forms being tall and muscular. But it really doesn't matter that much to me what I look like, so if you would prefer someone slimmer or darker let me know.

Myself, my type is a fairly short slender delicate-looking guy with pale skin and waist-length black hair (red or blond hair or something would also be fine).

As for plot, I guess we'll be starting in a separate little 'villain' plot strand with Armphid capturing me, and then we'll come into contact with the good guys once I've grudgingly agreed to work with the mage and they need a villain to stir things up. Sound good to everyone? :)

Your character's human form sounds fine to me, I can definitely work with a tall, muscular man, and the coloration if fine as well. As far as the length of the hair, I'll leave it up to you, but I usually like medium or short hair on guys (nothing beyond shoulder length, if possible). I think we might as well start posting in the thread when we're ready, just use the subject/title area in the post to indicate that our actions are taking place elsewhere.

Here's my character. Dolly, Sunandshadow, let me know if this works for you.

Name: Galyeon (pronounced like "galleon"), son of Borric
Age: 28
Race:Human

Appearance: Galyeon is a small man, only 5' 6' tall and weighing only 102 pounds. He has a slender, fragile looking build with delicate limbs and clever long-fingered hands. The features of his face are delicate, putting him on the pretty side of handsome, and adding to his overall look of fragility. He is caucasian, with the pale skin of one who lives in a place with long winters. Galyeon has deep set thoughtful eyes the color of emerald. His lips are pale as well, but surprisingly full. A mane of copper colored hair falls to his waist, usually trapped in a series of leather thongs decorated with arcane wards and symbols.

Bio: From an early age, Galyeon's fragile physique made him a victim of bullying and a target of scorn, even from his own family. This fostered in him a burning desire to be his own man, and to never be under anyone's control again, to make his own path...no matter how much blood or fire it took. Possessed of great intellect and drive, he left his home a burning pyre (most of the family got out, not that he cared) and sought out a magician to apprentice with. Galyeon learned the magic of sorcery; summoning and controlling spirits, and also a small bit of the magic of the Ancient Language.

As his studies progressed, Galyeon came to one conclusion. To have the power he needed to attain his goals, he would need to become more powerful than humanly possible. There were two routes to this. One, summon too strong a spirit and have it take possession of him, making him a Shade. This was unacceptable to him, as he would no longer be himself, and certainly not be in control. The other was to develop the magic of the Ancient Language further, which humans could only do by becoming dragon riders. That presented it's own difficulties, but if he could become a rider...he would have the power he wanted, on his terms, and have a mighty companion that could never turn on him or betray him. Arming himself with his knowledge of sorcery, Galyeon has traveled far to reach lands where it is said wild dragons live.

Notes: Galyeon is not necessarily evil, but is far from good. He has his goals and wants, and will do what is necessary to achieve them. He is not needlessly cruel, but has no compunction about being cruel if the situation calls for it. He generally holds others as having little value, save in the way that they might advance his goals or in that they are interesting/amusing. He will help people in need if it will help him, or if he is offered suitable restitution. Of course, if bandits or even the king were to offer him a handsome purse for a task, he'd do it as well. Once he agrees to something, he does not go back on his word, even if it costs him greatly. Anyone who uses this to take advantage of him earns an enemy unlike any they have ever had.

Lovely! *pets the pretty Galyeon* Um yeah, sorry that was confusing about where to post - I meant our own plot thread", but not a separate forum thread, and I didn't realize until afterwards that that was really confusing. But yeah, what you said, we can start posting whenever we're ready. :cathappy:

Ok here's me:

Glacier (Glay or Glace for short) - large white muscular male wild dragon (eyes are gray because white eyes would just look weird). His human form appears to be about 24 years old and is also tall and muscular with gray eyes, short white-blond hair, and skin that looks almost albino. He is intelligent, independent, and playful, although with a bit of a superior attitude. He has met some humans and some dragons with riders, and feels sorry for and contemptuous of these dragons who have never known what it is to be free and self-reliant. However he does feel a bit envious of the close relationship between dragon and rider, and he is very curious about humans and human civilization and social behavior, especially human 'mating rituals'. :D

I'm confused...Is there a particular order, should I wait until Brom and Eragon are done, or can I just post as Durza at any time?
